Yes, it can be done. you have to machine the manifolds to accept new injectors, add a TPS [throttle position sensor] to one of the throttle shafts, make fuel rails to hold the injectors in place with a return to the fuel tank or build a surge tank [I like the surge tank idea because you dont have run a return line to the main fuel tank] and then you will need some sort of EFI system to control it all [SDS, Megasquirt, electamotive...]
It would make for a cool looking "60s style Old School Gasser" car.

If racing is the only intention, keep it mechanical. If it will be driven on the street, convert to EFI.

Street car, this is why i wanna go EFI.. I have a CB hideaway turbo setup that i want to use too. however, the throttle shafts on the hilborns aren't very well sealed. i suppose it will only leak air though.

I realize that your your current system is not pristine. But you have a piece of history. Please do not destroy it. There are many other options, motorcycle, CB and many others. I do not know where to buy parts for mechanical fuel injection, but there are many places to buy parts for EFI. Dont't get me wrong, I think EFI is the way to go, but please don't trash a piece of history to do this.
Thanks
Kenric

I would bet there are more Hilborn throttle bodys then Weber IDA's in this country. My neighbor races Midgets & Sprint cars and he has a big box of broken T/B's and a bigger box of good T/B's and every Midget shop I have been in with him, is the same way. You can keep them pristine so some day a Midget car mechanic will get his hands on and install it on a race car so it can get snapped off in a wreck and thrown in the big box of broken T/B's.
Convert them, use them and enjoy them.

Damn, back when I was hot and heavy into designing my EFI setup I found a place that had the weld in bungs.
Can't friggin remember for the life of me where it was though...

Jegs, Summit, EBay, just about any shop that has tubing and flanges for custom intake/exhaust fabrication.

Why not just make a custom set of wires with a Y splice in them. Then you could just run one distributor.

I don't think electrickery works that way

There is a good chance that you can just have a machine shop machine the existing bungs out to the correct configuration. I was able to do it on my CROWER injection manifolds. Then you just have to make a fuel rail and retainer.
