cut it out, weld in a new one.

maybe i should be more clear do i use just regular sheet metal? if so what guage is best for this? or can you buy the tray aftermarket?

you can buy the tray. i think i last saw it for $220. But you can make it out of 24 gauge sheet metal. Thats what i used for patching my floor pan.

I just cleaned up and repaired a couple of small sections on mine. I didn't bother to replace the whole thing.

i used a sheet of 22 gauge (4x8). i cut out the rusty areas and treated the edges of the old metal. i painted the backside of the new metal and installed. the big sheet allowed me to also make door panels and dash cover. you also could add a trap door in the rear deck to be able to get to the transaxle to change fluid and adjust clutch easier.
