My old axle tubes were rusty. The chinese Chrome Rocket Car axle tubes are under $70.00 per pair. A qt of DP90, some thinner, and sand blasting sand makes a man think.
I had a 1-1/8" deep impact socket that fit the od of the tubes perfectly. Using a Harbor Fright floor press and a beer. When they broke free, they slid right out. After measuring the old and preping the new axle end, I was ready to press back on. I suggest preping the axle tube end before pressing. Its such a tight fit, the cheap chrome may bunch up behind your housing as its being pressed on. I made an excecutive desision and buffed down the chrome up to a measured scribe line. Worked great.

Mypoint is you can have a decent look, and have the seal at the same time.......best of both worlds.

Cant forget the brakes. Not now anyway. Thanks to the dune buggy market, the typical brackets for the hard lines works pretty good.

One of my 3/4 drive impact sockets fit snug inside the tube and rested flat on the axle tube inside.
