Anybody tow their camper?

[VR6 vanagon]

I would like to geta vanagon and cut out the section of the front doors, between the wheel wells, then bring the front clip back and re attach it to the van. basically just to shorten it and eliminate the front wheels. Then build a tongue for it and pull it behind my vanagon. It has a VR6 swap, PLENTY of extra power for towing. I think it would look cool to have a vanagon trailer being pulled by a vanagon.

I would think twice about doing that.
I have seen it done a couple of times.

The thing is: it is a very heavy trailer. It does not compare to any similar sized trailer, where you have metal only in the bottom frame basically.
And wood/aluminium/plastic for the rest.

Plus the tongue weight is huge, the rear axe is far away in the back.
Even without engine, you have a very unbalanced trailer.

And it costs a westy or so...

I would like an enclosed trailer, i bet there isn't too awfully much different in the weight. But I will look into it more.
