I figure the guys at GoWesty will either be flattered or want to sue me!
It's a Christmas Gift! No profit was made!
I'd like to wish everyone on TheSamba a Merry Christmas and thank everyone for the help and the humour this past year! Still can't get the image of dunking the van to get the cat out! Beautiful!

I think you're safe from any legal action. Nice work, btw. _________________ "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote." - Benjamin Franklin |

Is that a cutting board or a table for your westy? That would be a cool table for the front. There were some good ideas in that cat thread! _________________ Happiness=Portland, Oregon in the rearview mirror! |

Did you make that yourself? Very nice work.
If so how much for one, and does it fit as one of the tables?
Cheers!

A nice elderly friend of mine made this for me with a jigsaw and a soldering iron. He said, "This is for your shop," but no, it's proudly hanging in the living room!

It is a front table for my Sister and Brother-in-laws 85 Westy. It's made from walnut and the little van is maple. They named the van Daisy and my almost 6yr old placed the stickers.
If you look in my photos you can see the one I made for myself. All you need is the plate for underneath from GoWesty.
I have no idea what it is worth. It was just an idea for my van because there wasn't a table there when I bought it and the cost of a new one was silly.
I don't have any plans to make more but I may be bribed.....

How do you inlay the center pieces?

To inlay the poptop I made a template from 1/4" mdf from a printed pic from the GoWesty site. ( I was kidding about the legal action)
Double face tape the template to the table and I used a guide kit on my plunge router. Then I made another temp from mdf to fit in the hole. Once it fit snugly...taped it to some 1/4" maple...trimmed it close then used a flush cut bit and router table. Voila!
I'm ceratin there are better and more accurate methods for inlay but I haven't researched them yet. As previously stated...I'm NOT a woodworker...just a dumbass fireman!
But it's fun! Cheers all! Brian. |
