I used to have one of those... I used it to work on lawn mowers, completely destroyed the wrenches and pliers, wore out the screwdriver handles to the point that they were replaced with wine corks, and the round box was dented badly. I threw it away about 20 years ago after nothing was usable anymore.

Hi Guys!

since someone stole my hazet tool box`s smallest 450 wrench from my garage some days ago , i would like to know what size it was (i just simply don`t recall the size since i didn`t use that box that much ...)

i have a post split era "VW" marked tool box , with 3 screwdrivers and 561 big wrench .... the markings at the back of the box are embossed , they don`t look engraved or stamped with a male stamping die like later ones .......

a 14mm "600" and a 10/12 "450" unit are still there ....

could anybody let me know the size of the 450 tiny stolen one ???

best regards

Ricardo

I believe that would be a 7x8 mm

According to this source--
http://www.356.ca/tools/roundbox.htm
a 7x9 was used in a 1961 kit.

can anyone confirm that the Hazet 450 7 x 9 open/open spanner exists or do i have my wires crossed?

All i can find is 6 x 7 or 8 x 9.

I have a 60's Hazet kit with the four spanner slots.

I just looked in my box, apparently from a different year, and it only has 3 spanners, none of which are 7 x 9.

I have a loose V-10 Hazet spanner that's 8 x 12, and I have no idea where it came from.

Anchovy, do you have a list (or scan of a catalog page maybe) of what tools were included in the 2500 A2L?

Apologies if this has been discussed before:

Does anybody know when the Hazet 450 wrenches went from having the numbers stamped to being cast in the little "squares"? I've been looking for a 10/14, a 12/13, and a 22/27 to complete my later "cast" 450 set, and I've never seen either of these for sale. I'm wondering if they maybe discontinued (some of) those sizes after the earlier runs that were stamped?

I don't know the exact cut-off but the 10/14 was discontinued several decades ago. I had a few later style 10/14's (post 1965) and will see if I can find old photos to see if they had the boxed numbers or not.

I saw that and for people that struggle to piece kits together that is a fantastic price, especially since he is requesting offers.

Any opinions on the current market for Round Boxes and tools? Has the bottom fallen out compared to a couple of years ago? Dropped 25% or more? Or does everybody that wants one have one?

I sold a complete late fifties kit last year for $550. Mine was as complete as this one http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=806000 but the case was not as nice.

And that one has been looking for $899 since last summer. Crying or Very sad
