Hello everyone,

new arrival in my collection of rare old HAZET tools -
the followup of the Stahlwille Manoskop 72/6 as Hazet 990 or later 2590 both with up to 6 mkp (at these displays 600 cmkp):

Hazet 6121 CT (1976-1979) - torque wrench 10 to 120 Nm (1 to 12 mkp) with 1/2" drive.

First version of HAZET itself, CT stands for Click Type (before this they sold white labeled torsion based Stahlwille Manoskop without click only with display scala), an accuracy -/+ 2%, with a cylinder lock in the handle and key for additional security of the setting and old unit of measurement meter kilopond "mkp" (1 mkp = 9,80665 Nm, comparison table on the tool), which was changed to Newtonmeter SI unit at the next models as well as other locking mechanisms instead of keys.

To adjust the torque, push the handle forward against a spring, turn it to the appropriate torque value, and then let it slide back. The wrench allows for locking e.g. on the assembly line and key can be removed in either the free or locked position — therefore, the key doesn't have to remain in the tool (German patent by HAZET P2309618 and DE7341654U, 1974)

Real Early Logo Hazet piston ring compressor.
No part numbers on it.
Coarse knurling on handle and finish on the bar stock used it pretty rough yet still plated well.

nice find...
Looks like the 2523-77 is missing for 1200 and 1300 ccm to have a full set.
(The latest/largest version 85.5 mm you presented in photos only at www.garagejournal.com)

I suspect they were manufactured by ELORA (founded in 1924, near HAZET in another part of town) as product number "245" also for HAZET. HAZET can't and did not produce everything itself then or now and also rebrand other good tools from Stahlwille, Rademacher or Flott and others - there also other tools from ELORA in the HAZET portfolio till today.

These rather primitive piston ring clamps were available from HAZET from 1950-1976. First as 523 and since 1958 as 2523. Successively in larger sizes to suit new, growing VW engines - in the end there were 4 sizes up to the 1600ccm air cooled engines - and even more sizes didn't make sense. More versatile tools have been around for many decades.

But I also have one of these 2523-85(.5) - (theoretically, it is cumbersome) for my Karmann with AD engine:

and the rare adjustable 70 to 100 mm tool 2522
(patent DE1910441 by HAZET from 1969 that also describes all the shortcomings of 2523 and others, only 1970-1972, then not only VW but universal replaced by 794 U-3 in nearly the same construction till today):

Application: Adjust the band length by turning the plastic knob. The desired piston diameter can be read off the scale. Press the operating lever, the movable arm, beyond the pressure point, and engage the loose band end in the holder. Slide the band over the piston without tension, ensuring that all rings are engaged. Press the operating lever until it clicks into place. Slide the cylinder over the piston and release the band tension by releasing the operating lever. By pressing the lever further beyond the pressure point, the band is released, and can be pulled out sideways between the studs.

Hello again everyone,

Hazet 2572 (1950-1972) - special wrench for fuel valve

this small, 110 mm long special wrench was used to remove, install, and adjust the three-way (closed/opened/reserve) fuel valve on older type 1 (Beetle, etc.) and type 2 (T1) models.
This version is 1958 (four-digit order number) to 1965 (little "a" in Hazet). There is a earlier "572" and a later with small "GERMANY" superscript, and probably one with "HAZET".
The three-way fuel valve was last used at the cheap 1200 "Economy Beetle" model without fuel gauge produced in Germany till 1972.

from VW-Dienst repair manual, 1952-1957, K: Kraftstoffanlage page 4-3:
(the swivel rod to the interior was attached at the front - the tank was at the top - at the bottom a filter at versions up to 1955)
