After our loss last night, we needed a new moderator in The Off Road forum, and the Fiberglass and Kit Cars forums. I volunteered.
I am not that experienced with dune buggies, sand rails. and kit cars, but do have over 45 years experience with VW's in general.
I do have a 65 Baja Bug that I hacked together from pieces and a car I had sitting around. 1600cc single port engine, and stock bias ply snow tires on all 4 corners. I built it for my grandkids to learn to drive a manual trans in my pasture, and for me to run around in my 26 acre back yard.

It will be a learning curve for both of us. Me, to learn who is who, and you people to learn how much I will tolerate.
I hope we can get along.

Merry Christmas to all our fellow Samba members. I have not been a member long but i feel how close everyone is. Apologies for not keeping up with the updates. The last couple of days have been especially hard for myself and Brad's family and friends. Brad was still mentally there but the cancer spread throughout his body and ravaged it. He was on oxygen and had trouble sitting up.

I think Brad was waiting for today, a special day, to say goodbye. At 7:16pm Pacific Time, Bradley "HamburgerBrad" Williams, said goodbye to his physical form. I would like to personally extend our heartfelt thanks to the samba community for all the prayers and well wishes. I will update everyone as I find out more.

Again, TY for all the support and God Bless.

Welcome Russ. Glad you're here and for stepping up to take over for Brad.

Russ.. you seem like a good guy, from the little contact I've had on the T3 board. I'll vouch for you that you have a TON of knowledge about VW's in general. I've read (and re-read) many of your posts. Aren't you (or weren't you?) a factory-trined VW technician at one point?

...Or am I on crack?

Welcome Mr. Wolfe.
I do like the new forum title, but I was hoping they would leave HamburgerBrad's name up as a mod. Confused
You a Sprint car fan Russ?

It was discussed and thought it would be confusing for newbies to PM a moderator and not get a response.

I was a factory trained VW mechanic, up until the 80's. I then went into industrial maintenance.
I recently retired from Mahle Corp. in the fuel components division, in Winterset, Iowa.
I was a "maintenance technician". I did a lot of the electrical design work on the production machines, and did the programing of the computers that ran the machines. So I have a pretty good background in VW engines, fuel systems, general VW's, and pretty much all around VW repair. I am NOT a body man.
I currently own about 11 VW's. In various states of repair.
One of my other hobbies connected to VW's is that I collect VW's shop manuals.
If you need some information, I can probably come up with it.

I'm glad to hear you are stepping up Russ, Brad will certainly be missed. I have no doubt that with VW knowledge will be an Assett to the board.

Keep him up there as "Moderator Emeritus", and just have his PMs go to Russ.

Just some pictures I happened to snap as we were building it one weekend.
Nothing fancy, just something to get around in the fields here.
BTW, technically, it is a licensed vehicle. I do have the plates for it.
Master cylinder is out on it at this time, but who needs brakes anyway.
