Porsche engine?

No idea on the engine, but the back vents are sort of what the prototype had. Not sure how functional they would be, as they would pick up waste heat rolling up from under the car, and lots of dust!

Those back vents look like oval window radio grills

would love to see more of that car, a dash pic would be nice. Cool steering wheel. The rear "vents" look very much like Oval radio grills!

Compared to that side view mirror, the little rectangular taillights actually flow well with the lines of the Ghia. Smile

Looks like my Coupe third up on the right. Illustrates very well how much lower the KG sits than the Karmann Beetle.

Before the "Swan Neck" became the recommended choice dealers seemed to favour them about halfway down the wing, which raises the question, how effective is that mirror? I agree it is an unusual one, style and position.

^^^ Keep your hands off my bumper. Laughing

Lovely pristine early ribbed firewall cladding...now unobtainium.

I'm guessing Trout Blue. Wink

Looks super early, like Jan.56 or earlier.
Decklid seal is the early beetle style rubber, also note the early earth strap placement for the battery. Strange exhaust for sure!
