Ghia Cabrio heading down the "test hill" at the Nuerburgring race track in Germany in a group for driver training, 1966. Caption mentions that Hans Stuck (Sr.) is driving the Fiat Abarth in front. Normally, cars would travel UP the 27% gradient hill. The test hill was a "shortcut" to bypass the famous left-banked Karussell curve, but was usually fenced off during active races.
If the front blinkers on the Ghia are not clear, then they'd be amber and it'd be a mid '64 model year. If the front hubcaps are not visible because they are flat instead of domed, it'd be a '66. I can't clearly see the location of the driver's rearview mirror to further pinpoint the model year; if on front fender or on door. |

Same car again I guess but no rear plate?
I wonder how many pics they took... |
I thought so too, then I noticed the plates on the oval. _________________ Type 1

I'm sure we've had that one before as I remember trying to find out where the pictures were taken. It's a very early car, very likely promotional shots as the rear decklid doesn't have the KG script. |
The pictures were taken at the Angeles Abbey Memorial Park in Compton California. It’s a 1000 crypt mausoleum built in 1923 by George Clegg, and was suppose to resemble the Taj Mahal. The architecture it self, is a combination of moorish and Indian. So, not so much Taj Mahal.

Thanks for that "RUNKLE"...I thought it looked Moorish but didn't think they would have shipped an early KG to anywhere but Europe or US.
Although it appears white it's L376 Gazelle Beige with L379 Brown inner hubs. _________________ John.

I love the ski's strapped to the convertibles!! Would be cooler if the top was down, that would show real hardcore life!! Great set of pics.

Reminds me of the Rossfeld High Alpine Road at the SE tip of Germany, by Berchtesgaden... Lovely shot. |
