Came across this today, trying to pin down its origins. Perhaps the 6 month only 1949 white deluxe steering wheel?

… almost looks like someone painted the white part - I like the all-black ones better..."black is beautiful"

… I bought one of my standard 3-spokes for $5o in 1994... it was painted orange and quickly cleaned it up - have had it in 4 cars since and remove it when I sell - its a keeper - a NOS all-black one came with my 1950 11A

what is the diameter?

there are a few similar looking white 3 spoke steering wheels. The BMW Isetta for example had a 380mm one.\

In the hub on the drivers side of the wheel there are some numbers stamped, looks to be "25633" but I'm not sure on the 2nd digit, could be a 3, 5, or 8.

Few more pics of the backside of the hub

That's a '56 and up steering wheel. It has 48 teeth and not 24 like the early wheels ('55 and earlier).

Here are my two 3 spoke wheels with hornring. Wink
Both are early wheels and the ivory has an aftermarket horn center.

I think the splines changed part way through the 56 model year. My 56 three spoke is coarse spline.

I think the white wheel above is mid 56 to 66 Std Beetle, and someone painted it white.

I had the same wheel in my 58 years ago. It's now hanging on the wall in my shop. I'm pretty sure it originally came out of a standard.

On the back of this.... My late July 49 has a white batwing. I always though that would be correct. But should it be white 3 spoke?

As far as I know the ‘49 deluxe Beetles had the ivory 3 spoke steering wheel on it. ‘49 deluxe had cable brakes.
