56-61 will work. Do a search in the classifieds here for "snowflake". _________________ Eric - 1966 camper bus

Its 1956-1961 for the "snowflake" style tail lights.
How did they hook up those tail lights I wonder, the wiring for a two-bulb tail light is different than a single-bulb, so you'll have to revert this back to the original setup. Hopefully your turn signal switch works properly since that it is the "brain" of the turn/brake light system.
As for finding them, that's why theSamba has a Classified Ads section, you can find many in there, and you can always post a Wanting To Buy (WTB) ad in there as well.
Since that style of tail light is commonly called the snowflake, that's a good keyword for a Classified ads search, try this link out:

Hope that helps!

Three options
1) Get a 6-wire turn signal switch
2) Make a relay. Andy (glutamodo) has a few post showing what you need and how to wire it up - Here is one thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4266938#4266938
3) Use a trailer converter - see this thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=391685
When will we see this 59 at some of the Georgia shows??? _________________ Eric - 1966 camper bus

The snowflakes are gone off my 59 too, so i'm planning on picking up a set of the LED snowflakes so that they look stock, but can actually be seen. |

I guess it should be noted, if a 61 and earlier car was retrofitted with later taillights, I suppose they could have kept the original 6-wire switch (only using three of the wires) and just ran an extra wire to the back of the car for the brake lights. If you still have the original 6-wire switch, then there really isn't anything more to do than mount your snowflakes and wire them up. Hopefully your snowflakes will cover the extra holes they drilled to mount the later taillights.
If sometime in the past, the turn-signal switch was replaced with the more common 3 wire switch, then you will need to consider the three options above. _________________ Eric - 1966 camper bus
