I know they made a million billion bugs but how many things were made for the U.S.?

I read somewhere that there were around 25,000 sold in the US in 73 and 74. I could be wrong. I've often wondered the same thing, as our little cars seem to be few and far between today!

I think it was 29,970 delivered in the U.S.

Don't recall where I obtain these figures, but thought it was important enough to write it down for Thing data.

Total: 28,930 USA

Interesting in 1995 the VW Thing (Type 181) Registry estimated that based on the information they had that about 8,000 Things still existed in the USA. We have about 3,000 left in our database. I Think that number is much closer to around 5,000 now... The Registry in Europe has about the same amount. The largest numbers of Type 181's left are in Mexico.
