i'm gonna ask everyone i know if they wanna voluntarily spend their saturday making food for complete strangers. |
na, we got it covered now, Ramon and Jeff are our designated OCOD Grill Masters for Saturday...we'll have burgers, dogs, snacks, sodas, and water. We're bringing out the gas grills so no one needs to haul charcoal bags around...although maybe next year we could haul 50lb bags around and make it a competition!
for those of you reading this and not understanding what we're talking about....the JustaPizza place went out of business at the Lodge so we had a food vendor lined up but some things shifted and the food vendor couldn't do in on Saturday. So we decided to bring out a grill or two on saturday manned by Ramon and Jeff!
But in between all of this taking place i asked Gibbs (UZI) if he'd cook for 100 or so strangers and the cool part is that he started to plan for it! Thanks Gibbs and the rest of the voluntary South Philly Van Club for considering it in such short notice! So you guys can just chill and have a good time on saturday!!!
we do appreciate all the help and support everyone's given us so far in preparation for DF! See all of you on Saturday and some of you on Friday!!! _________________ Old City Oil Drippers

we just can't do security and grill for a hundred people. after we've kept them safe all day, the last thing they would want to do is ask us to feed them. they'd feel like they were being treated like three year olds. glad you got the grillers lined up. i'm sure they will be fabulous.

thinking about going, would it be worth the 5 hour drive + call out from work + driving at night to make it? _________________ Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

it's a good time and the venue can't be beat. no doubt one of the coolest shows with the most potential on the east coast. you can even go ride the zip lines. _________________ Extravagant Lifestyle

Yes, as long as you have one headlight that works and are not afraid of the dark. I'll even write you a note excusing your absence from work.
X2 what UZI wrote. Last year was my first time at Dripfest and was my reintroduction back into the VW scene which I had been away from for a while. I had a great time and enjoyed the show. Great bunch of people, genuine VW enthusiasts, not a lot of knuckleheads like the bigger shows.
More importantly,

wow, thanks for all the positive feedback about the show before the show...it's nice to know everyone enjoys the Dripfest Experience!
the 1st year we had about 30cars or so and 106 degrees of sweat dripping heat, 2nd year (last year) we had a little over 80 cars, 15-20vendors, 150 spectators, this year we've promoted the show A Lot more and made 3 days of cool stuff to do, so who knows what we'll see....i know one thing that really makes me smile is that there are a handful of guys that are using Dripfest this year as their deadline to get their vws roadworthy (enough) to cruise out to the show...it may not sound like much, but the idea that people are busting their butts to finish up, start and finish up, tweak, or travel a fair distance to Dripfest means we're doing something right or a combo of something right
In my opinion, All the organizers of any show do is to TRY to put on a great show, BUT You Guys Attending with your Rides is what Truly Makes a Great Show! If it weren't for you guys showing your support, we'd have 9 fools standing in an empty lot in june with no snow at a ski lodge.....so we thank you guys before the show this year!!!
something else the OCOD attempt to do...and that's to create some killer Show Tees and other accessories that you'll see on saturday....here's a peak at this year's Dripfest T...hope you guys like it!

I know you mentioned earlier that there is a bridge out near the show.
Do you have a map showing what's the best way to get there, and which bridge is out?
Thanks,

if you guys are coming up 476 you're okay.
it's really for those coming up route 29 from 422.
the bridge that is out is the bridge that's literally a walk away from the Spring Mtn Lower Parking Lot (the location of the show in 2008).
as a result of the Bridge being out, there are Really Good DETOUR Signs to Spring Mtn now
it's about a 3mile detour around the other side to come in by 663/476 entrance.
i'll try to get an image of it posted up! _________________ Old City Oil Drippers

Funny, but true.
The '70 passed PA inspection today, so I can legally drive it to Dripfest!
Put me down for one of those t-shirts, great design! |

I'm leaving Jersey around 7pm, should get to the ski hill around 9pm Friday.
I got dispensation from the pope to hang late on Saturday, Tiki Bar Here I Come!
And as to the detour, so we take Schwenksville Rd. to Spring Mtn. Rd. thanks for the info. I just like saying Schwenksville, don't know why. _________________ Founder and Chairman Emeritus, ECMSAS
