Thanks, Karl. So, is the general consensus that Fiberine tops aren't great quality or design?

If you haven't read the 'Fiberine' thread, you might do so - that would give you more insight into the tops. I had big issues with the one I bought years ago, besides it being just ugly. Sad

From the photos I've seen of various tops; the tops made by Adventurewagen, Dehler, Carthago, Futura, and Reimo are the best quality.

Here's a discussion about the fiberine top;

Here's a bunch of info on different tops (I've included Karl's collection as well);

I called Fiberine directly (they're at www.fiberine.com) and talked to the guy there. It sure sounded like DiscountVanTruck is just reselling Fiberine tops, because the options are all the same. Fiberine is located outside of Los Angeles, and the DiscountVanTruck guy said it would being shipped from "Southern California".

But the prices the Fiberine guy gave me over the phone are significantly higher than DiscountVanTruck's prices. Here are the prices I got:

$1,250 - basic top
$ 550 - liner
$ 190 - crating

He said the he wasn't even sure he could put a window into it, because the mold has only 12" of space for a window, and the windows they sell now are all 14" high. Back in the day, when they were making these tops for lots of vans, they could order lots of 10" windows which would fit, but nowadays they don't have any stock (and aren't willing to put in a large order of windows for a single high-top order.)

Ask him if he will install windows you provide.

There are dozens of window (port lights) available for the boating crowd.. even ones that pop open.

These tops are usually popped off in small runs.. and finished one at a time. No reason he could not do a bit of custom work.

Hi

We are at present working on exporting hightops to the States at present.
Due to there size we dont think its worth sending one at a time due to the cost of packaging and shipping. We are therefore looking to send them over in quantities of 10 complete with a pair of windows and a roof vent. So all you have got to do is cut your hole, fit windows and vent to new roof, then bond the new high top on. You will of have to line out the hightop with thin ply and lining carpet to complete the job but it isnt that difficult, just time consuming.

If you are interested in hightops take a look here

I like the timbertechnicians tops the best and how they continue/compliment the lines of the front and back of the van.

That custom top van is really slick. I love that color scheme, with the black stripe. Great work by whoever that is.

I would think you would want the insulated top?
900+550 pounds = 1450 pounds = $2320 US Dollars + shipping

still, not a bad price for a brand new insulated top

I have an SCA400 on the top that I had installed last year. It fits like a glove and is of high quality. It was made to order in Germany (I don't think SCA stocks these.) I had it installed in EU, so I can't comment on the shipping. I would assume if there was a large enough order to fill a sea can, they would send some over.

If you can get your hands on one of these, you won't be disappointed.

Yessss! I'd love to get my hands on one of those too. There is a company making a poptop-hightop version similar.

That is an amazingly beautiful van. Any more pictures? Interior shots maybe? Theres just something about the 16" syncro that looks right. I think all of these vans should have came with those wheels and fender flares. Downright sexy.

Can I get one of those tops, with the wheel flares option, and the 16" syncro option ?

Another domestic option is the Getaway top from Vancouver BC. I have owned 2 of these and love them. Here are some pics of my current van taken from Gary Lee's site.

Woah... That looks awesome. And no worries about the shipping.

Dipple do you have contact information for the supplier of these? Do you know if they still manufacture and sell them?
