Hey all finally took the Oval apart to get a real paint job last color was black previous it was grey, looking for something new really 50's and on the VW color chart we got 20 different shades on the wall and can't decide lol!! Very Happy don't worry if it's correct this is my fair weather driver after all and oh yeah its got a OG brick red interior

Anybody got any ideas any shade but coral red (pink)whats your fav and post a pic if you can, might do a build thread on here if theres enough interest.

Thanx

If you decide to keep a Red interior, that will help narrow down a color choice.

Black, Strato Silver, Diamond Green & Ultra Maroon seem to be the most popular colors.

With a Red interior: Black, Strato Silver or Polar Silver

Agave also came with a red interior although it tends to look like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas. I personally vote for the black with the red interior.

I vote for black with the brick red. Of course, I'm a little biased because my 57 has that color scheme.

With Red interior, Black makes sense to me

... interior aside, my favorite Oval color is HORIZONTBLAU L331 (Horizon Blue)

Black, Silver or White with the red interior.

Switch out the interior to another color and though you already knocked it, Coral Red is a Kick A$$ color!! If your sample is Pink, you've got a bad representation.

Up on the page header, Technical, scroll down to paint/upholstery, click on Type I, scroll to your year.

Info is Mostly accurate, like most old VW info, not 100%

I"m doing mine, 56, in Jungle Green with a red interior as original. Very nice color and you don't see too many others in this color. Good luck on the project no mater what color you use.

L324 Polar Silver
L329 Shetland grey poly (both versions)
L316 almond green poly
L370 nile beige
L227 strato silver
L232 Iris Blue poly
L241 Bamboo

Even though most are convertible colors and metallics, you dont seem many in these colors (except strato and polar which are very popular)

Hello!!

If you prefer red for the interior, in my opinion, black body paint will be the best! if the interior will be close to original conditions I prefer gloss black, if you will modify some in the interior like dragfast stick shift, sport steering wheel and some other accesorioes, then flat black! (not bright).
