Hi everyone,
I am working on the engine of my SO23 westy to make it look old speed style and I am planning to buy a repro flat4 abarth muffler.
I was just wondering if such a muffler would fit with a westfalia split tow hitch?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you have pix of said muffler? _________________ -Thom

CIP1 Canada does interesting discounts 2 or 3 time per year, my plan is to wait until the next one.
But I need before that to be sure that it will fit with a westfalia tow hitch |

A 36hp Bus owner told me the36hp version did not clear his 36hp Bus apron.
So unless the layout is different, it doesn't fit a stock Bus rear apron. _________________ How to Post Photos

Thanks, that is what I just saw.
But some of the guys pointed out that is requires rear apron modifications, then I think I will not go into that direction even if I think that the look and feel of a abarth muffler on a bus looks great. |
Seems like a lot of work and $$ to do, the job on the above pic'd bus looks nice... but not worth the cutting and $$$, to me anyway. |

I think the Westy hitch would fit as the outriggers go about even with the rear pipe clamps and the bumper bracket should clear between stingers. |

I have this muffler in my '55 bus with a stroked 1800cc and the tailpipes do not clear the stock 36hp apron for sure. I ended up cutting the tailpipes off and re-welding them on lower on the muffler to clear the apron. A bit of effort, but the sound was worth it! Just thought I would confirm this in case anybody was searching for the answer... |
