|
|
Hi All,
I saw this great deal in JC Whitney on heat exchangers, hoses, and hardware for $179 http://www.jcwhitney.com/jcwhitney/product.jcw?nva...tid=918799
When I enterd the year of my car (1975), the website said they don't have heat exchangers past 1974 because in 1975 the Super Beetle became fuel injected.
Here's my question: My 1975 Super was converted from fuel injection to carbuerator, so would that mean these heat exchangers for a 1974 would actually fit my car?
Thanks!!! |

If you have a single carb and functional heat risers yes then 74 down heat exchangers will work. Post a picture of your engine and exhaust. _________________ Midwest Autosavers, Inc. Woodstock, IL |

They will fit ...... BUT........ you will have to get longer "extension" cables for the heater levers as the '75 heater box "heat levers" are mounted differently. You just need to buy a couple of cable-holders and just add about 6 or 7 inches to the end. I just got an old cable from a junk yard and cut it to fit. You also may have to reroute the cables a little lower where they come out of the car so they will go under the drive axle and not rub. One of my "tubes" were missing so I used a piece of plastic water hose, for like the toilet. The stock rubber "cable seal" fits right over it so it protects any grime from getting in just like the stock ones do. If you do it right it looks -almost- stock.
Just give your self a little time to plan what you need. Nothing hard just a little head scratching.
You do know they WON'T fit the stock '75 exhaust right? You didn't say what type exhaust you had.
Those JC Whitney heat exchangers look like they have the -Flanged- ends instead of the clamp style. The Description also states that the picture may vary so you might call or e-mail them to make sure there are no surprises. They do make "spare" flanges to weld to your exhaust if you want to use the flange type.
Works for Dual Carbs also..... |

If you are buyin new heat exchangers just use the VW bus levers already attached to the top. You don't need to extend anything and don't need relay lever kits for 63-74 beetles either. _________________ Midwest Autosavers, Inc. Woodstock, IL |
