So am I really just screwed having purchased and installed Empi discs all around? I haven't run lines yet but it is a bit disheartening hearing nothing but horror stories with Empi stuff, anyone running it WITHOUT problems?

Here are the parts I ordered for the brake lines that attach to the calliper.

http://www.summitracing.com
2 x EAR-63020714ERL BRAKE HYDRAULIC LINE (14 inch)
2 x EAR-997517ERL 10MM -F BANJO BOLT
1 x RUS-683943 BRACKET WELD-ON BRAKE HOSE MNT

I welded in BRACKET WELD-ON BRAKE HOSE MNT to the arm (screwed in hose on caliper end and wraped around to know where to weld bracket) then used standard VW brake clip to hold hose end in place on bracket, then just screwd in normal metal line to bracket from the brake line tee in the rear.

This was for the CB Perf. Kit, not sure if it will work for others.

I will try and get pictures tonight.

Good dink911, I just receive my rear disk brake kit from CB Performance yesterday, I hope my family and the weather allow me to work this weekend on the car.

Thanks for the reply and the part numbers Dink. I think I'll order some banjos and line. I have a CB kit also but it's going on a swing axle so I hope to use the existing brake line brackets and clips.

Did you use a residual pressure valve?

you will need to measure the length you need that part number is for a 14 inch. Also mine is IRS so Im guessing you could buy longer hose and use existing bracket, mine would have been like 20+ inches if i tried then I would have had to figure out how to secure the line as well so I just thoght weld the bracket and buy shorter line (cheaper too).

Yeah, I noted that the part # was for a 14" line. I'll surely measure a few times before I order.

I'd love to see some other pics of your install. Did you use a residual pressure valve? if so, where did you mount it?

Yesterday I could have time and install the rear disc, but I have a problem, the pedal goes too long, very long.

I bleed the system twice but it still the same.

By the way, the master cylinder is one month new, and the front disc system is 6 month new.

Before the instalation, she was working good with not problem.

I do not see any leaks, but I do not know what to do, please your help, she is my daily driver.

Thanks,

Ivan.

Are your bleeder on top or on the bottom? If they are on the bottom, switch the left to the right and bleed again and you should be good.

I purchased the ones from Cip1.
worked good for me but needed a little modification.
Had to get a banjo style connection for the calipers, make some new lines between the swing arm and body and finaly make a couple of brakets to hold the line in place. but all in all it was worth it.

Dink911,

is that the final route for your hand brake cable or is instaled that way temporary, i had a little trouble deciding where to route mine and was worried about the cv joints rubbing against them.

That's what I thought. It looks like CB is the way to go, saves $65 for other needed parts.

Thanks to all for posting the comments and photos.

this was final way in between bump stop and shock

motrinx's will go over his bump stop as well once the car is on the ground and weighted down. it sits in the and rest against shock.not my ideal location but not much choice.

I still have the problem, then I call CB Performance and this was his respond :

Are you running 4 wheel disc brakes? You may need to run a 6609 residual pressure valve in line to the rear brakes.

https://secure.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=1130

What do you think ?

Thanks,

Ivan.

The residual pressure valve seems to be designed for the dune buggy/off road car guys that use turning brakes.

Quote:
A Residual Pressure Valve is a must when turning brakes are installed in line with rear disc brakes. The Residual Pressure Valve prevents bleed off of the disc brake cylinders. Turns become faster with less movement of the levers. The valve can be installed at the master cylinder or in line between the master cylinder and turning brake assembly.

you should not need it, I had to vacume bleed mine. also if it was like mine all lines were empty and you will have bubbles form in the line which makes it feel like a sponge which is why i had to vacume bleed go rent a unit from auto parts store or buy one and takes like 30 mins to do all 4 and then I had a very solid pedal, but remember you will not have the same pedal as when you had drums it does feel different.

Thanks Steve and Snoopy49. Wich Bleed Brake kit do you use ?

I bougt one from Pep Boys yesterday, pay $ 50 for it, follow all the instructions but did not work ( Mityvac Brake Bleeding Kit ) and I am to return today is a toy.

One question Steve, when you tell me that I will not have the same pedal with drums and disc that all 4 disc, please tell me more because my car was working good, really good with disc and drum, and I get the disc thinking it will improve, but now things are too bad.

Ivan.
