I was looking today at this location. What's the best way to access the back to screw on the locking ring? Did you remove the cook top or bend your arm in twelve different directions at once to negotiate the void behind? I must be tired today b/c nothing simple was jumping out on how to get access, even with the fridge removed. |

Hey Mad,
Why one to the outside in the city water hookup? What do you run out there? |

no need to remove fridge, you can remove the metal front plate following directions in this thread

I like this location. It's convenient when the bed is down and I can hide items that are being charged in the water tank cabinet.
|
can you use this receptacle with the rear table in place? |
Yes, the receptacle is a good 3-4 inches below the table. _________________ _________________________________

To the folks that mounted 12v receptacles in the metal face plate above the fridge and below the stove/sink: what did you use to cut the holes? _________________ 1986 Westfalia |

Somewhere I saw a 1 1/8" hole saw drill bit suggested. It worked perfectly on the metal of the face plate and cabinets. MadSpaniard installed 2 side-by-side in that location and I thought that was overkill at the time, but now I wish I had done the same (allows for charging something while plugging in a laptop). |

I was wondering when someone was going to post an USB option. Since most phones/handhelds are using 5v batteries and are able to charged via USB, it seems that everyone will only need to buy one car cell phone charger from now on.
For those of you with campers, these might come in handy for charging a few phones, etc....

I did a quick search and found this..

It's worth a mention that converting 12vdc > 110vac > 5vdc is not the most efficient way to make 5vdc. If I were to use this in a Westy, I would take it apart, and convert 12vdc to 5vdc and supply that to the ports on my own. _________________ '69 Mike

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding something here, but the outlets mentioned convert 110v dirextly to the 5vdc for the USB, right? Where does 12vdc come in? (Unless someone is powering their 110v outlet in their camper from an inverter, that is.
