knowing what the cam blank is certainly is more difficult if identifying marks have been removed by stoker clearance.

How can I find out without the markings?

What would you use, Neil?
These "use with any cam" udo lifters seem to be anything but

Somebody round here has to call Web and ask what's going on with the cam blanks.
Before you call, see if the cam gear fits correctly.

Cam gear fit fine. It's in the short block already. This is seriously a bit frustrating.

Aren't all Web stroker-cleanced cams SC-1 blanks?

I didn't think so, now I'm not sure.
What a rixe this has been. I've got 3 new cams. And one set of $400.00 udo's. Since I'll be orderkng new heads this week, with the cc chamber I'll need, I may just use the Engle 120. I KNOW engle cams are compatible with udo's. Going to sleep on it.

No answers here, but some clues:

I called 2-3 months ago to speak with Web about different grinds. At that time they were using the Scat SC1 blanks.
SLR is also grinding scat SC1 blanks. At the moment the are 3 different tool steel lifters available, Udo's, Prescott Phillip's, and Shag Leon's ultra light set. I know of one set of Prescott's lifters running a Webcam, and Prescott runs a scat cam in his own race car with his lifters. Shag Leon's tool steel lifters are advertised to work with ANY cam at all.
If Udo is advising against using his lifters with the Scat blanks (webcam/SLR/scat cams), one might assume that he is wary of the hard cam blank after his own lifter hardness issues. Or maybe it is something completely different, but it certainly narrows the available options.

I don't understand, no name brand? If you mean the cam gear I tried a vw, cb and Brazilian gear. It's late probably went right over my head.

Yeah, but I'm using the webcam 86b. Called webcam and they manufacture their own lifters now, so I ordered a set of them.

They do now? Is this recent? It was common knowledge that they repackage scat lifters. I'm not sure if the lifters are SLR treated or are the lightwieghts. I lucked out and got my two 86c with the cwc blanks.

Person I spoke with said they manufacture their own now and that they are not repackaged.

I honestly don't know how people build motors with any of those gears. I have gears custom made for me in the USA that work 100% of the time.

I just went out into my shop and found 3 Pre-Clearance Cams, one Engle FK44, one Web 86b and a Scat. All are stamped SC-1 on the blank. I have over 10K on an Engle SC-1 with Udo Lifters and not seen any metal in the oil yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hope it works out. I'm not going to try it. Pulled the motor apart again. Waiting on the webcam lifters to come in. Going to be outting the udo's in the classifieds to help pay for things. People seem to be doing fine with the pifters that each company recommends so thats what I'm doing. Web told me over the phone that their cams are not compatible with udo lifters. They will pit.

But Why? What did they say other than they make their own lifter; which means they want you to use theirs.
I have a Web 86C and Udo's that I have yet to fire.
