|
|
1. You get more PMs from the Samba in a week than emails in your Gmail account.
2. You’ve read all 487 posts on the “best tire” sticky through twice, and despite Loogie’s best efforts, you still can’t decide on what &^%$# tires and wheels to buy.
3. You eat rice and beans for a week to save money so you can afford another layer of Raammat to soundproof the slider door.
4. You’re on a first name basis with the phone sales staff at Van Cafe.
5. The most dangerous question you’ve been asked in recent memory is the sales staff at Van Café, after calling in your goodies order, asking: “Is there anything else you need?”
6. Your spouse grudgingly accepts you disappearing into the computer room for hours at a time, justifying it with the thought of “I suppose there’s more sleazy web sites he could be watching than this one.”
7. You owe so much to Quebec Ben and Tencentlife for their helpful posts that you give in and have a keg delivered to Ben and a case of Laphroaig single malt sent to Tencent.
8. The Propex heater, Vitrifrigo fridge, 6 speaker stereo system with subwoofer, air conditioning and Recaro seats in your van are all superior to similar items in your actual house.
9. Your spouse yells at you, “It’s me or the damn van!” . . . and you actually take a few seconds to think about the right answer.
10. You’re familiar with only one Good Book . . and it has a green cover. _________________ '86 Westy, 2.5 Subaru power

Soul Brother!
I've actually been considering the purchase of another copy of the Bentley. My first copy is getting pretty dog-eared and if something happened to it I'd be severely torn up. I also keep a copy of "Protraining" and a schematic in each bus. No, I'm not paranoid. Really. (Wife's reaction>> _________________ Current fleet: Vanagons, two '88 GLs and an 89 Bluestar. Yes, i spend to much time here and on my website, way too much time in my shop working on those piece of shi* vans. One day, on a beach, on the side of the road, in a rest area.. In an FL campground, in TX, in Ontario.. I'll meet a few of you guys, we will have a few beers around a camp fire and we will remember this night forever.
I't not only a virtual place. I already met quite a few fellow from The Vanagon Mailing list and from here.
More to come, i hope gentleman's.
It's a passion thing, a lot don't understand why.

this is awesome.
here are a couple more to add:
stayed up inebriated only to read forums then watch syncros on youtube.
spent way to much to purchase, maintain and upgrade your van(s) only to religiously search the classifieds for something new.
added 200 visits to the tire sticky to look at syncros.
have used samba's members usernames in your explanation to your wife to justify the next upgrade. _________________ 89 Burgundy Westy (sold)

1. The Samba is your homepage.
2. The Samba might as well be your homepage.
3. You add to a new thread before Jacob.

Funny...
Here is my contribution, more of a "Top 10 You Have Vanagon Fever" but I get jealous of the other Vanagons on The Samba:
1) You buy a GL and realize you need a Carat or Wolfsburg.
2) You buy a Wolfsburg and realize you need a Westfalia.
3) You buy a Westfalia and realize you need a Syncro.
4) You miss your Westfalia and realize you need a Syncro Westfalia.
5) Your wife leaves you because you spent all of your nest egg on Vanagons. _________________ Current VW's:

Yeah, it's just after midnight - my instrument panel cover is sitting on my desk and I'm opening and closing the new GPS storage spot mod - and checking for any new threads before I turn in. I'm man enough to admit I've got a problem, though I'm weak enough not to address it.
Oh yeah, and I beat Jacob! Woo-hoo! _________________ '85 Westy |

Old smuggler + the samba = bad idea.
I especially like #9 and #10. And I especially like that somebody mentioned me in a thread about spending too much time on the samba. I'm glad I have a legacy, however bad it be, on the samba.
In all seriousness though, lmao. I honestly laughed out loud when I read that.
2. You are drunk at 4:06 off of bottom shelf whiskey and the first thing you do when you get home, rather then pass out like you know you should, is think to yourself "man, I havent checked the samba all night, i should probably go post".

Ben, If you're in the states any time this summer, I'd love to catch up with you, see your van, and speak some french with you. I don't ever get a chance to speak french with anybody here in OHIO.

Hey the Samba *IS* my home page.... nothing wrong with that for sure.
3. You are working on two Westy's and will be sad when you finish and have to sell one.
2. After you sell one you start thinking of what else in the Vanagon world you can buy.
1. You start scrounging through old parts wondering what you can sell to get the latest *thing* that you just have to have for your Westy. _________________ Dave O

Forgot about giving jacob advice on how to fix his latest problem with his Vanagon... I swear he spends more time here then working on it.
