OK, so I've finished body and paint this year and I'm in the mood to tackle something else. The seats are bugging me most. That and the seat stands and front mat. So I have a Sewfine catalogue and really admire what they show. Also heard good things about them on Samba.

So what I'm looking for is some opinions on what I should invest in. I'm feeling like some nice leather seats and some carpet for the seat stands along with a front mat will round things out for me and the wife. I like the original seat shapes and appreciate an original looking bus. But I'm absolutely torn on the seat stands.

I keep hearing how bad the replacement rubber stand mats are so I'm thinking carpeted ones to match the seats and front mat would be the best.

Please share your thoughts. I don't want to be disappointed with my results.

So leather or some other seats covers, standard or vinyl?

And seat stands in rubber or carpet?

Lay it on me folks....

From my late bay:

Newly upholstered Vanagon seats. Carpeted seat stands.

I used standard TMI seat covers and the Wolfsburg West rubber seat stand covers, which fit well.

I think they came out pretty good and it certainly was efficient/easy to do.

I managed to restuff and patch these 75 Westy Seats.
Suggestions that the West Coast Metric COCO fiber stuffing is
more appropriate might be worth investigating.
The overstuffed word was used about 75 Westy seat foam.
heres photos. It was the econo route. Didn't take too much time, and will suffice until I can drive it for another year to finish shake down and restoration.

Jealous of those armrests. Are those recovered Vanagon seats?

Edit: That will teach me to read better. Embarassed

What did that run?

Boxxcar,

No I did not use TMI foam. I used the Wolfsburg West hair seat pads, which are very close to the originals.

Putting a whole Sewfine interior in my Westy with the aforementioned rubber seat stand mats. I have used carpet before and it holds dirt and gets wet at the bottom when I track snow inside......deteriorates it quickly.
Leatherette on the sides and cloth on top. See the rear pad laying in the back.
