Surprise :
My beetle is from Sweden. And at the Wolfsburg Museum, they said me someone could maybe have the original copy of the 1st order.

So, I contact him, and, 3 days later, so... today (!), I received a copy of the "micro-film" which indicate how have buy the beetle, where, with all serial numbers, extras chosen, color, (...) and date of the 1st registration in Sweden !
Wonderfull ! I think "he" is on "thesamba" (not sure), but if you want the mail address, don't hesite to contact me and I will send you by MP. (I think it's not correct for him to write it directly here)

If someone have a swedish VW, I realy advise to do it ! It is a simple but a beautifull document.

I have never seen the number of seats listed.

Why would you need that in writing?

In my country asking for this, new rule from 2017 :/

What do you think, Is bug 1200 from 1971 4 passengers or 5 passengers car?
I think it's 5 passengers according to:
page 7
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/8_1969_beetle.php

manual -page 70
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/8_71_bug_german.php

data sheet? (is it this t1 car?)
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/lit/99beetle_mexico.php

But it's needed to be in formal letter from VW or dealer.

5 passenger.

I'm not sure I have seen any sort of formal letter from VW stating this fact.

Will they take the official VW brochure above as proof?
Advertising should be proof enough.

You could contact the VW Museum through the contact information in the first post above and see if they can respond via email as an "official" source.

Just placed an order for my Australian factory built Standard Sedan, I'm curious to see if they have the data on those models?
It was rather random back in 60's Australia and the model upgrades did not correspond with Wolfsburgs timings.
They make it very clear on the site that it will take at least 6 months to recieve the Certs, Which for me is ok as it should be just in time for my resto completion.

Hi, just discovered this forum/topic. I ordered a certificate and datasheet for my '71 Beetle Convertible on the 22nd of november. I'll keep you posted on the delivery time.

Yesterday, I received my certificate by mail. It took about 5 months. Very happy with the results! Shipped this car to the Netherlands a few months ago.

I'm now trying to figure out what the 'A72' option is.

I wonder if that is supposed to be M72?
I don't see M72 in the M-code list here on the site so it may be unknown

Still haven’t found a suitable explanation for the code. It might be the wood-trimmed dashboard and shifterknob?

Sent an email yesterday asking for a BC and got this response:

Dear Don,

Thank you for your e-mail which was passed through to us by the historical department.

Unfortunately, we are not able to draw up birth certificates and data sheets because of technical reasons. We are in working process to solve the problems, however, we do not know how long time this takes. Therefore, we could not working with any enquiries – including our contact form – at present.

We hope to come back to you soon on our website www.volkswagen-automuseum.de and ask for your understanding.

Best regards

Received mine today, ordered 14/2/2018.
My certificate states my car was made the 29th of december 1966 and shipped to Finland on 02 january 1967
The VIN tables here on the samba indicated it was from november.

My engine is the original one.

VIN # 117 400 is from December. The numbers in the charts here are the LAST VIN for that month, except where noted.
