Dual spring swap to single HD Springs?

A buddy is offering me a killer deal on a his mild port and polished 40x35.5 heads. Dual springs, chromoly retainers etc... Is it possible to run single HD springs on these heads?

My 70' bay bus motor is running: 90.5 X 69, stock cam and lifters, Dual 40 IDF's, 010, stock rockers w/ solid shaft, stock push rods and headers with fat boy muffler. Learned that Dual springs are too much for my set up, so wondering if single springs can be dropped in instead. Thanks.

Yes.

You may have to change retainers to the stock single type.

You can get by with just using the outer spring but have them checked first,Madmike
