I wonder what's lurking beneath that bra? Looks like it's got alot of potential though.
And dual propane tanks, that's creative.

My '79 has two propane tanks....they're tee'd together under the Bus. The second tank was added when my Bus was still in CA and a Coleman furnace was added to it in the 80's.

the other day this comment was made by jereandjess on another thread showing a dealer brochure of accessories:

Has anyone ever seen the #15 above, Door Handle Shields in person?

I sure have not.

Neat option that I would assume is incredibly rare to find.

this bus has them! pretty cool. they have been painted over, but could clean up.

this bus also looks like it has the front door edge trim, at the rear edge of the doors. - painted over chrome?

Given the painted over items, i bet this bus has more than 23k miles.

still worth more than 300 though, in today's market. good find. try not to rip off your dad!

I'd give ya a swift kick in the Nads for trying to talk it down.
but since yer on the left coast, it's too far away for the moment.

that's a 1200~1500 bus as it sits uncleaned unknown.
on the road, running and licensed it's ~$3,500+

if Vdubtech buffed & polished it's $5k~
people buy shiney running VWs.

it is the chrome edging on the back swinging side of the front doors. if you link to the other thread above, you will see it listed in the dealer accesory flyer.

Nice vdub. Do you think that bus has a furnace in it?

I noticed it has the fake Yakima/Thule rain-gutter mounts. That looks to be a very nice, complete find. Definitely worth more than $300 bones.

I would say the most cost reducing factor is the respray and the unknown under the respray. I do think the color matched bumpers and top look good in that color.

I believe it is the VW strip. remember, bus front doors are shaped different than most vehicles front doors, as the betal is a 90* corner, so it makes a flat edge. this edge would need a different type of molding than a universal edge guard.

As compared to most vehicle doors, where the metal there is rolled back on itself, making a "sharp edge" . the cheap pep boys types are usually a bead with a groove, or a U channel that would fit over this type of door edge. I think there is a very good chance this is a dealer accessory.

Don't be a d**k. That's an amazing bus for such a low price. You're lucky to find one in such great shape. Anywhere else you might pay $1 - 2000.

put this in perspective. im 17, and have a paper route that pays like 40 bucks a month, and no other solid job (odd jobs every once in a while)
EDIT: no im not lazy as far as a job, i just dont have time with school and family stuff.

i sell things and make a few bucks on the side.

now i want a bus, but i dont want to buy it and go broke and not have money to fix it up after i get it.

also, the guy really just wants it gone, hes not looking for money.

in your 10th picture, it is just the metal strip on the edge of the door to the left of the door handle.

if you are going to take pictures, and can open the door, take a picture of the edge of the door, so we can see how that protector mounts.

If you're 17 with a $40/month job, buy 1 car and stick with it. You will go broke if you have $40 a month to buy parts.

Don't be an idiot.

he isnt going to be 17 forever, and it is always a shame to pass up on a good deal, such as a 300 dollar bus in good shape. even if he gets it, and sits on it until he has a bit more cash, it will most likely only go up in value. plus as it sits, he could even just flip it for 4 times what he paid, and someone will still be getting a good deal.
