Since there are less than twenty 1958 and earlier 15 windows known to exist, it got me wondering how many 59-63s are still out there.
Post a pic of your bus, m code plate, name and general location and hopefully we can get an idea how many of them are still out there.
Please no 23s or non factory 15s. If you have no m code plate a scan of the birth certificate will suffice.
Since I feel the number of survivors will be low, maybe it will convince someone who owns one NOT to hack it up and appreciate its rarity.
Thanks for participating.
Tony

I would be shocked if there were less than hundreds of these left!
15 window deluxes have always been my favorite, but I don't think there is a shortage of them. |

My old 15, '61 build date for the '62 model year, bench seat with f.w. middle Seat. Originally an Az. bus that I got out of N.D. From me it went to Co. I believe it is now in Europe.

Dave P.'s 1961 Deluxe in Jax Fla:
Here's 2 15W I found in South Georgia. Not sure if they still exist or not.
There's also a monster 15W in North Florida. I'll let the owner introduce his bus. It won best custom at Bulli Brigade 16.
Also, there was a mouse grey 15W that won best deluxe at BB15. It was from Florida somewhere & similar to the mouse grey one posted above. _________________ Call your Cunado's:

This thread could go on forever. I can't wait for upcoming thread titles like "How many 13 windows are left?" or "How many blue & white '65-'67 Standards are there?" or "Has anyone ever found a Pearl White '66-'67 walkthrough westy pop-top?" _________________ '57 sunroof Standard

The bus that got me into buses was a '62 15 window owned by my friend Eric E. in Satellite Beach, FL. It was a total surf-mobile, with no interior and covered in old stickers, including a "Longboard House" sticker on the corner window. It wound up being spray painted red and white and then house-painted green and white by subsequent owners. Last I heard it went to Miami in around '96? If I ever found that one again, regardless of condition, I'd have to buy it. There was a pretty good scene of friends who all had split buses there, but I lost touch with them (and their buses) when I left FL. |

I doubt it. Since these did not have the sunroof and skylight windows most people did not consider them rare and parted, cut, and crushed them. Bullet 15s are barely being saved, let alone 62-63s. I remember in the 80s-90s when campers were not worth much, even I turned down a free one once ( ). Look at the demand today. I got mine in all original condition missing the rear seats for $300 back in 92. The guy who found it didnt want it because it did not have the sunroof and passed it on to me. It is evident in some of the pics that some owners still do not think they are valueable as they are still parting them or leaving them to rot. I think the same happened to pressbumper 15s, parted, cut and crushed, now look how many are left! Even if there are a couple hundred left the survival rate is still VERY low.
On the 13s, standards and such I do think the list could go on for quite a while. Production was even higher, but in 10 years lets see how many are left. For me, late model (big hatch) type IIs seem to be fairly easy to find and sometimes at a deal. I havent seen too many small hatch buses for cheap in the last few years, regardless of condition. _________________ Grapes of Wrath $200 Engine Rebuild
