This 79 bus I have been working on does not have the pedestal to support the air filter. It had a bungie cord to hold it..

I poked around in the classifieds, but perhaps I am not searching for the correct part name.

Anyone know just what I should be looking for?

you have to love those clever people who cut things off of vehicles. "gee, this thing's in mah way, all jest cut it off". i don't recall ever seeing one for sale, better to find an ad for someone parting a late model bus and ask them to cut it out.

Thanks Scott I will poke around in there some more.

The engine that came out had completly sheared off the 5 bolts that hold the flywheel to the crankshaft. Something is certainly amiss in there.

over or under torque. Check the crank for cracks around the bolt holes. You are probably Ok. As a general rule one should always replace those bolts as they crystalize and fatigue over time.

Send a PM to Brian (vdubtech), he can probably hook you up. He's very good with a sawz-all!

I have already sent Brian an e-mail. He really is the "Charlie Daniels of the recipricating saw". Razz (stolen and bastardized from the Sammy Kershaw song)

I have not split the case on this dead engine yet. The bus came with 2 dead engines. This one is the most dead of th e2.

It also had 2 things that JC Whitney used to sell as "anti-fouling" spark plug gizmos on #3 and #4 cylinders. Sort of a spacer where the spark plug screws into the spacer that screws into the head. It effectively mashed the tip of the plug so that there was no gap.

I'm days away from cutting up a 77 or just loading the entire body ? The pedestal is there, if you don't find one.

As you know sawzall's and blades don't come Free and I don't buy tools from Sears.
