1970 Bug. Mounted on the rear most part of the driver side floorpan next to the rear crossmember. I also have one wire which is disconnected and am wondering if it went to this relay. It is a fused wire half red and half black that comes from the regulator.

Here is a pic of the relay...

That's what I thought. My club's guru says it is most likely an old headlight dimmer relay, part # 111-963-141B. I am unsure.

Glenn is correct, 111963141B is the rear window defroster relay. Second clue is it's under the backseat. Now you are the Guru. Wink

Here's the wiring on my '74 sedan. The black wire at left is a replacement...I think it's supposed to be white, to one end of the grid...I marked it with tape but it's under the back seat at the moment...the blue/white wire is to the computer socket, which is useless and non-existent on your '70.
