I am having problems with my pump rods binding on my 40IDF's. I think they are also pumping too much fuel. They idle good but upon acceleration there is a lot of hesitation until I rev past 3000RPM. I noticed that the rods do not slide past the pump arm, instead they get caught up there. Do the rods look properly set up with the springs? Am I missing parts? Thanks.

I actually held one of my 36 idf's up to the computer screen to compare.
Looks about the same.
If it really is binding I would bend the tab a little, then re-adjust by eve-balling the location of the lever.
Manually test the pumps: open throttle quickly-both squirters should shoot a strong stream of gas for about a half second.
Driving test-move gas pedal in slow motion while driving. Should drive well. Acc pumps are only for when you "stomp" on the gas. |
