I've never seen the green in person but I got the impression from pictures that the WCCR green might be a bit different. I browsed around the gallery and posted some pictures in this related thread that might have some examples:

I'm waiting on a green interior from Kevin Ferguson (aka, The Aussie Trimmer) right now. The sample pics he sent me seemed to be more like your originals. Probably have a couple more weeks to go for delivery. |

Well, I talked to them 3 1/2 weeks ago. He billed me 1 1/2 weeks ago, and emailed me to confirm my ship address. When I emailed him back to confirm my email I asked him what the turn around time would be. He never replied. So, I wait...... |
It took about 6 weeks to get mine from him, the wait waas well worth it though. I also knew going in there was a 6-8 week lead time on the stuff. |
Well my covers showed up, and as of right now it was not worth the wait. Heres the deal, the green is way off. I mean not even close to the original color. Its more of a seafoam green than a dark green like what is original.
Check it out, here is his new cover compared to my original.
Has anyone else had this had this problem with Lenny's seat covers?

It's quite hard to find a pair without the heater outlets though. _________________ Kimberly

They didn't have any covers under the rear seat yet. However they will fit your car if you decide to get a pair.

Did they use those panels that go beneath the rear seat yet for these years? _________________ Jason Hopper

Does anyone have a photo of a Garnet Red ('59 only color; a very dark red) bug fully assembled with the paint in relatively good condition? Mine was originally this color and I really didn't like it, but this weekend I saw a '69 911 that looked to be about the same color that looked pretty good.

I have a gallon of paint and a bunch of parts with Garnet red in the garage right now. Look on page 16 of this thread for some pics. |

I looked today at the gas tank, mine is black not blue gray. Perhaps it was repainted years ago, I donīt know. |

Are you sure they should be gray? Mine are the same color as the cardboard backing in my case they were the red/brown color of the interior. I also have a set that is gray as well but I just assumed they were from a car with gray interior. Every one I've ever seen had the same color bars as the cardboard backing. |
For anyone with the blue interior who is interested, the luggage rails on the back seat appear to be L29 Blue Gray now that I have a set of original ones. This is the same as the gas tank, dash support bracket, heater tube covers under rear seat and passenger armrest support bracket inside door. _________________ Kimberly

There are many such pictures posted in this thread. They are spiked to the backboard. The split guys also use rivets but I can't say I've seen that for 58-59s.

They were not galvanizing Beetles in the late 50s, however Porsche was galvanizing the 911s starting in the late 70s (which is one of the reasons you'll probably never find a rusted out 911).
Meanwhile, does anyone have any photos of where/how the seat rails mount to the seat frames? Are they just riveted to a pressboard type backing like the rails on a panel bus cab divider? I've got to tackle that issue very soon (I'm about to finish the body work and take it to paint). _________________ Jason Hopper

I read somewhere that the older beetles, late 50's, the pans were galvanized.
It's interesting that yours has no rust or rot. Mine looks great.
That is one of the things that sold me on my bug.
A lot of the 60's I have seen from California the battery tray is
rusted through or has been replaced.
Hopefully someone out there knows something about this. |
I don't know about the galvanized pan story, but the reason mine doesn't have any Rot, is that it spent 46 years in the Desert of Needles Ca... The thing that sold me on my 58 besides the lack of Rot, was that it had all it's original parts, with the exception of the front and rear seats... _________________ 1958 Agave Beetle (0\_!_/0)

I don't know if thats true but mine looks like it has the original finish.
Most 58's I have seen have been original pans and they look perfect.
