Howdy All!

I decided I am going to attempt to post regularily from my road trip starting March 2nd. and ending March 11th or 12th. I am attempting to post meals prepared on the road, microbrews visited, photographs of scenic locations as I encounter them... Why? I do not know. Perhaps to offer hope to my snowed in brethren who may be chomping at the bit to get the 2010 camping season started... follow here for regular broadcasts starting on Tuesday... If I get time I may post some pretrip stuff.

Lisa, Lucy and I plan to start off the first leg with a stop in Lake Tahoe to visit Lisa's brother Mark then down to Death Valley for a trip thru Titus Canyon then onward to Zion and Southern Utah. We really aren't planning on anything for sure other than Death Valley. We are going to go where the wind takes us. The vanagon song will be blaring thru our sound system as we head out of the valley where we live and into the American night...

Peace and Love,

ASWAH

p.s. if anyone is down for last minute camping and celebrating come meet us out in the pucker brush...

Roger:

I happen to be listening to Jethro Tull's song Fat Man... I want to be a fat man...

I will put warning signs out so you can plastic wrap your computer keyboard so you don't short it out while I am on the road!!!

ASWAH

p.s. I should weigh myself before and after! We are contemplating a stop in Las Vegas for a Johnny Cash tribute show and a night of Tiki drinks and Polynesian Food! VIVA LAS VEGAS!!!

The Emerald Triangle is what the DEA refers to my corner of the world. It encompasses Mendocino, Humboldt and Trinity counties... Not that I know but it is rumored that some of the finest Ganja on planet Earth comes from these three counties!

Emerald Triangle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
The Emerald Triangle refers to the three counties of Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity in Northern California, United States.[1]

This region is also called Behind the Redwood Curtain,[2] [3] because the two major highways that connect these three counties, U.S. Route 101 and State Route 299, are narrow, winding and lined with tall California Redwood trees. This cuts the Emerald Triangle off from the rest of California.

The three are the biggest marijuana producing counties in California and also the USA.[1] A county-commissioned study reports marijuana accounts for up to two-thirds of the economy of Mendocino.[1]

The three counties are known for their general libertarian politics and historical dependence on the timber industry. They were also associated with various ill-fated plans to secede from California and become, along with several counties in neighboring Oregon, a part of the proposed State of Jefferson.

The State of Jefferson. A very interesting but short-lived exercise in succession. The Post Office in Seiad Valley has this painted on the building. I like their Great Seal, XX, for the double cross. Viva La Revolucion!

That was really educational and I suspect it also answers a question I had thought to ask re what is ganja. I believe you answered that also. I've heard that BC is sorta like that also.

Thanks. Now don't be forgetting all those details to send us.

Moab might still be under a foot of snow. It was in January anyway. Maybe a local will chime in on the current conditions.

Looking forward to the vicarious road trip. Hope you have a good time.

The wind will be taking me to a similar place next week. I should be in the St George / Zion area all of next week to get out of the slush and onto my mountain bike... so if you see a white Adventurewagen, be sure to stop by.

If you want a great read from a road report check this out.

NYC to Labrador and back via motorcycle, with girlfriends, camping, food and icebergs. About the best reading and photo's I've seen.

Levi... that was truly funny! Should I mention I used to wear dreads, love reggae and the grateful dead is high on the list of road music?

And if anyone sees a multi colored vanagon with two dancing bears on the side door with sounds of laughter intermingled with the smell of ribs and duck cooking please stop by for a beer or glass of wine or some of Mendo's... well, I'll let you all fill in that blank!

The road trip commences tuesday!!!

PEACE... ASWAH
