this weekend I go to pickup my #2--an 87 wolf. the engine is mia and shes sleeping in the weeds behind an equestrian lot in lake elsinore, ca.
photos will get taken this weekend when I tow her back. I'm getting a day permit [nonop] and fabbing a towbar. she has the lunchtable/jumpseat combo. the ac is missing 2 sections of the cieling ducting and the back crossover with the condenser. she's a mess, but for 200.00, what the hell.
I'll have to disable the steer lock cause there are no keys.
Bitchen and I will get her running with a remnant 2.1 I have and start ironing out the bugs. todd

Congrats!! Way cool. I keep thinking about it. I already have a 70 in the garage crying for attention and now the 86 that is a blast to drive.. I think I am going to have a hard time justifying it to the wife!! At least until the 70 is rockin.

here she is

hit on every side. air box hanging by the wires next to the drooping 4 speed

jump seats and a table. the jump seats are very similar to theater seats

The rr wheel was locked up and flat. we ended up flatbedding it back.
I just finished putting a 2.2 in my #1, a 90 GL. like a top, I tell ya! now the gearbox needs a 413 ring and pinion....not cheap.
free woulda been the right price but the lady was getting evicted and needed some dough.
I post links cause I cant get my stupid photoshop to reduce sizes
and we all hate scrolling sideways!

It seems like these projects take a minimum of $6000.00 to make them a normal vehicle again. stuff like powertrain solidification, fuel system upgrades, all the boots, shocks, brake and wheel upgrades, paint, interior trim, dash instrument servicing, coolant system, windows and gaskets, air conditioning, lighting, bumpers, electrical issues, upholstery and sound system.
Is that an accurate observation?

Don't be TOO grim, you might get lucky. Prowl around for a good, cheap used engine (It is permissible to wheedle nearby Sambanistas who are doing a conversion), see if you can find a junked van with stuff you can use and do wholesale transplants, it's not NECESSARILY going to be that bad, and a big part of the fun is doing things WELL for as LITTLE as possible. Have fun!

Best!
