Speedometer wires ID

My 88 Westy has this box on the undercarriage where the speedo cable plugs in before going off to the wheel. There is also an electrical plug which came from the PO with two of the three wires clipped. Any idea what these wires are for? The speedometer functions fine currently.

EGR light to change the CAT. Comes on automatically at 60K. Push the button to reset. Probably wouldn't reset and he clipped the wires
