I sold a RHD pedal pan a couple years ago on here, the cutout was different but the pan was the same stamping. I can't seem to pull up the picture but here is the add ID if you can pull up the pictures EV.

Here in Argentina is very difficult to get a pedal pan, and I would like to know if a later 63-66 pedal pan can be placed on a 57 and 60 without modifications.

Regards
Marcos

Yes, I believe it will fit the '60.

The '57 I am not 100% sure but I think so.

Agreed!!!

One follow-up question:

Based on the info provided, the early style pans cover 55-60. Within that group, 55-57 and 58-60 are pretty much the same with the only notable exception being that on the 55-57 the front lip is "flat" at the mounting holes and on the 58-60 the mounting holes are recessed or pressed a bit??? Is that the only way to tell the difference on the early ones?
Thanks!

the earlier pans also have a spotwelded tab on the side; later pans have the tab as part of the stamping; someone might chime in with the approx. date of that change

Can someone clarify the difference between a pedal pan for a 1957 versus one for a 1958?

Are they the same?

the pans changed sometime in 57 corresponding to the recessed bumps on the backside of the inner valance

the earlier 57 pan would have been smooth across the front lip

some info can be found on page 1 of this thread

Are you referring to the recessed holes where it bolts to the front of the bus?

So 57 has a flat lip and the 58 has the recesses?

I assume that the tabs with the holes that are "turned up" attach to the back of the rear valance? Do the repo rear valances have the corresponding holes and nut plates?

Can anyone shed some light on the hardware used to hold the pan in place? i looked at the pics and there seems to be some running screws and some running hex heads. What size and pitch thread do I need? Thanks

See page 2.

If you do not have the time to read thru a post...
At top of each page is a search box you can locate info like this in a single forum. Then it will show you any entries with that word you are searching for. We entered "Hardware" and got this:

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/search.php?search...ults=posts

Then just clicked on the highlighted subject of that to be taken to that result.

Also a great resource for figuring out part is the parts manual here:

http://oacdp.org/5867part.html

Tis a must to go thru over and over. Doing so will result in finding parts you did not even know existed and probably need.

In this case, just look at page 1.
There is a summary in the first post of this thread.
Hardware is included there.

I am not sure what the size for the sheet metal screws are.
I went to my local Ace hardware and found some that worked fine.

On the last Bus I did, some spots had welded-on nuts for the M6 (10mm head) hex head bolts.
Some spots had nothing there so I used the sheet metal aka self-tapping screws.
