Idaho went to the flat plate a few years back. Cops don't like them because you can't read them from an angle. |

I have heard it from my neighbor too. He is an Iowa highway patrolman. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Is there a plastic cover over that one?

Nope! Just the tag itself inside the Leroy Cannon dealer frame pictured in my earlier post. _________________ Strive for perfection in everything. Take the best that exist and make it better. If it doesn't exist, create it. Accept nothing nearly right or good enough."

North Carolina is going with the flat plates, starting with the personalized ones. I just got one. It does look fake. They claim it reduces the cost. Maybe they'll lower our license plate fees.........Bwaaaaahaaaaahaaaaa!!! _________________ More Hot Lighting Products are here!

Iowa just doubled the fees I pay on my VW's.
I put 3 of my cars into storage, to I would not have to pay the license fees. I was informed that if/when I took them back out of storage the fees would be doubled. From $10 to $20.
The ones I am keeping plates on, went from $10 to $16. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey

Russ, I can see that you've never lived in California. When I moved there quite a few years ago, I registered a fairly new Mercedes station wagon and an older Mercedes sedan, both diesels. In Illinois, any diesel vehicle was a flat fee of around $15 if I recall. I almost crapped my pants at the California DMV when the clerk told me it would be $1800 to register both cars! _________________ More Hot Lighting Products are here!

My 61 ragtop costs $69 to register. My 59 chevy flatbed truck is a bit over $1800 a year to register. If reg's only cost me 20 dollars per vehicle id have everything I own tagged! |

My wifes SUV is over $250 a year to register.
Used to be in Iowa, any car over $25 years old was $10, and any truck over 25 was $25.
My son lives in Sandy Eggo. I hate to see what his 28 ft motor home costs to register.
And they wonder why people are fleeing California. _________________ Society is like stew. If you don't keep it stirred up, you end up with a lot of scum on the top!--Edward Abbey
