Huh. I don't like the naugahyde brown on the seats but that burnt orange tent is a great colour! The installation's not very good, though...

I also really like that tent.
Why does an 87 have a brown interior though?
Really like to see stuff like that explained in the ad.

There is a lot to like in that van. 2.5 Subaru, GW bumpers, Rebuilt trans, big brakes, decoupler, trcuk fridge AGM batteries, 3 window sunbrella canvas, awning

But I agree about explaining the interior. It appears to be a conversion. Either he doesn't know and bought it that way, or he is being deceptive. Using an early interior in a late van is fine at some price point, but above 50K probably not.

Yep, we each have opinions. Very Happy I'd mainly be concerned about the color inside the van (but I'm not a big fan of it from the outside). As for the fit, Northwesty canvas often appears a bit loose in their website photos.

http://www.north-westy.com/replacement-poptop-tents/

Great looking van but the canvas sure doesn't have the Westfalia fit...

for $65,000!! Shocked Rolling Eyes

regardless of the work done or upgrades performed, it's still an 85 2wd Weekender.

This just seems crazy to me, am I wrong?

It's always interesting to see someone selling a van 12 months after putting ~$35K of upgrades into it. I recall reading about the coast to coast trip that van took to PeaceVans and back.

Perhaps Sprinter envy?

It does look like quite a nice van.

I'm too poor to be wrong on this one, go get it, one of you lucky ones!

Edit: on second thought: DON'T

That has to be a typo.

I saw a 1981 tintop in rough shape today with a for sale sign.
Pulled over just out of curiosity.
$9500 for beat up aircooled with some nice armorall on the tires

This link is now dead.

If someone had copied the content and pasted in one of the several preceding posts that glory could have been preserved forever. Just saying.

Now, this will make your head spin... as in The Exorcist

https://waterloo.craigslist.org/cto/d/1990-vw-vanagon-project-van/6210069136.html

But, "ala-cart" items include a set of CLKs Not sure I'd pay asking, but look like someone should get them..

I am not really "whining" about this, but it appears that the going rate for a clean 2WD, without any conversions has hit a new high:

That's much more than a a 'clean' 2wd Westy! ALL mechanical items are new and the engine and trans are rebuilt: the interior is also completely new.

What does a windows-out/colour change repaint cost?

The going rate for a nice late model full westie has been 25k and up for well over a year.

holy smokes. $55k for a '85 2WD westy with a (new) 2.1L motor.... if this sells ....jeesh (the ad references it being listed on GW, so maybe thats driving the desire for big bucks)

ad:
https://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/d/vanagon-1985-westy-manual/6290228518.html

1985 ½ Volkswagen Westphalia GL 4 speed Manual
Vehicle is for Sale and only serious inquiries only. 2nd owner of vehicle with only 129,000 miles on body and has never been in a wreck or any rust. I have all receipts as well as original 1985 purchase paperwork. I will show vehicle only by appointment so please email me with questions and any additional photos of vehicle.

Vehicle has a (less than 8000miles) new 2.1L NW connecting rod motor (Installed @ Squires Porsche in Bellevue, WA), SS exhaust as well as new air mass unit and fuel lines replaced, to include all cooling system done with SS pipes, dual batteries with Marine Charger and invert, Westphalia new 3 window canvas (installed @ Peace Vans, Seattle, WA) these are only a few items listed as to many to add. Vehicle has almost all options offered by VanCafe, GoWesty, Bus Depot, and from Sewfine, over $31,000 in parts and labor upgrades. I have kept all maintenance records as well. Shocks, tires have been upgraded as well as adding sound deadening for a more solid feel.

I can be contacted @ show contact info . I can also send a zip of photos of van.
$55,000.00 is listing price.

Not real sure if this is a good deal or what... $4500 for a 91 carat, with a few issues, and wants to have cash in hand, and meet at the police department... "clean title"
