1986 Westfalia Syncro Full Camper for parts Price: 15000
Bought this westy syncro with the intention of transfering the camper kit and poptop onto my tintop syncro. I bought this for parts with no title. Looks like someone replaced the syncro drive train with a 2wd. It's got the gas tank in the rear. If you're interested come take a look

What more do you need? Looks like it's parked in Ballard...

Given its location and lack of ad details, I hope it's not stolen. Confused

Seller edit.
"Run ok, need key"

"btw, motivated seller"

Hmmm, my screen reads only, "RUN OK"

Come on people, what's up with the picture taking?

How old is this phone with the fisheye lens?

I think he's including the scaffold in the deal since it's more in the picture than the van.

I'm whining because I'm having a hard time locating a passenger side power mirror assembly for my friend's '90 Multivan. Help me seek the truth. I can handle it...I think

Okay, think what you will about the van, its condition or price, but the reason I'm posting it is because the same ad has been running for MONTHS without any photos and the ad has finally had a pic added.

One pic.

https://richmond.craigslist.org/cto/d/1989-volkswagen-vanagon-gl/6526592783.html

1989 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Carat Wolfsburg Edition White Star - $8500

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

1989 Volkswagen Vanagon GL

VIN: WV2YB0256KH071814
condition: good
cylinders: 4 cylinders
drive: rwd
fuel: gas
odometer: 190000
paint color: white
size: full-size
title status: clean
transmission: manual
type: van

Vanagon body overall in good condition with a few very small, very light dents. Small rust patches around several of the windows (classic VW Vanagon window rust --- look it up on the internet). I have purchased --- but not yet installed --- rubber seals for all windows. Original sliding door replaced with older Vanagon model year door (similar to original but without electric door lock functionality).

Interior seats covered with aftermarket covers. Front seat captains chair armrests removed --- but included in sale. Original Owners Manual included (some missing pages) - with remaining individual pages protected in plastic page inserts. Also included is a 12 page VW Owners Maintenance Manual - shows original purchase date of new 1989 Vanagon as May 6, 1990 --- sold by Hagestad Volkswagen in Thornton, Colorado. During my ownership the Vanagon has been kept in smoke free environment.

I am the 5th owner of this 1989 Volkswagen Vanagon GL. The early owners apparently lived out west and the 4th owner was my neighbor's son (near Richmond, VA) --- who bought the van in the 2000-2001 timeframe. He had the engine rebuilt in Denver (a very solid rebuild job) just before I bought it from him. Van mileage is 190,000.

From 2001 through 2017, I have steadily replaced many parts in the Vanagon. Some were necessary repairs but many were replacements that I carried out because I simply wanted to improve the future reliability of the van --- and because the components were still available and relatively cheap at the time (no longer the case for many of the parts that I purchased early in my ownership history).

The van has current 2017 Virginia Inspection

Replaced parts include but are not limited to the following components:

2017 Update

(1) New Muffler installed May 2017

(2) New (Rebuilt Bosch) Starter Motor installed May 2017

(3) New Manual Transmission Linkage Components - May 2017

(4) New Manual Transmission Shifter Components - May 2017

(5) New Cruise Control Parts - May 2017

(6) New, Upgraded SBS Rear Brakes and Brake Hardware - June 2017

2016 Update

(1) New (rebuilt) transmission installed --- May 2016
Purchased from German Transaxles --- Bend, Oregon

(2) New Shifter Kit installed --- August 2016
Purchased from GoWesty

(3) New Rear Brake Drums Installed --- August 2016

(4) New Rear Brake Cylinders Installed --- August 2016

(5) New Tires --- August 2016

2001 through 2015

Standard "Tune Up" Parts Installed

Battery

Standard 4 speed Manual Transmission (with rebuilt transmission)

Alternator (Rebuilt Bosch)

Steering Gear

Power Steering Pump

All Hoses

Disc Brake Calipers, Disc Brake Pads, Rear Brake Shoes

Complete Rear Drive Axles, CV Joints, etc.

Radiators --- both Front and Rear

A/C Compressor and Most Key A/C Components

A/C Hoses

Gas Tank

Special Gas Tank Air Emissions Relief Hoses

Master Brake Cylinder

Clutch Slave Cylinder

Fuel Injectors

Fuel Pump

Distributor

Miscellaneous Transmission Linkage Parts

Miscellaneous other parts (not listed above)

Complete external paint job

Aftermarket radio/tape player

Added New Carpeting

Shipping & Payment: Pick Up Only. Buyer is solely responsible for any pickup and shipping costs. The 1989 Vanagon must be picked up by buyer in Mechanicsville, VA --- on a date to be determined by seller. An agreed pickup date in Mechanicsville, VA will need to be negotiated between buyer and seller.

Seller specifically sells this vehicle in "AS IS" condition and "WHERE IS" condition. Seller offers buyer no warranty or guarantee of any type for this vehicle. Vehicle is nearly 30 years old and seller cannot offer a guaranty or warranty of service for a vehicle of this age.

Full Payment to seller for the full sale price of the vehicle must be made only by a cashiers check drawn on a local bank in the Mechanicsville, VA area.

$350 for a Syncro gas cap? I could hire Michael Cohen to turn one on a manual lathe from solid gold for that kind of money.

I love the "There is nothing to do to this bus." what about the non working odometer and the fact the right side mirror is held together with tape and the ground dragging tail pipe. Not to mention the cover is missing off of the window crank handle. I bet this list goes on for a while.
All of these items are minor, but for about $100.00 all of these could have been addressed.

No action on this ad one week after he finally posted a pic (after months of running the texty ad with no pix), so he RAISES the price.

Well, if it's been running for three-and-a-half years it probably would hold the record for views. At least the Samba ad has lots of nice pics. I think I knew this van in its life with a previous owner.

What’s the mental health diagnosis code for the syndrome where when asked by the spouse to purge the toys (van, moto, boat, project car, quilt collection, antique kitchen gadgets, etc.), the subject responds with an ad with giant red flags (unreasonable asking price, bad photos, code words that scream “stay away”, etc.) that ensure a sale will never be made?

291.0 Alcohol Intoxication Delirium?
294.1x Dementia Due to Pick's Disease?
297.1 Delusional Disorder?
300.11 Conversion Disorder?
300.13 Dissociative Fugue?
301.82 Avoidant Personality Disorder?
302.81 Fetishism?
305.30 Hallucinogen Abuse?
315.2 Disorder of Written Expression?

There are so many possibilities but perhaps something more specific should be diagnosed because there appears to be an epidemic.

Adjustment disorder is the nearest match, although still not clinically indicated.

Diagnostic Criteria
A.The development of emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to an identifiable stressor(s) occurring within 3 months of the onset of the stressor(s).

B.These symptoms or behaviors are clinically significant, as evidenced by one or both of the following:

1.Marked distress that is out of proportion to the severity or intensity of the stressor, taking into account the external context and the cultural factors that might influence symptom severity and presentation.

2.Significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.

C.The stress-related disturbance does not meet the criteria for another mental disorder and is not merely an exacerbation of a preexisting mental disorder.

D.The symptoms do not represent normal bereavement.

E.Once the stressor or its consequences have terminated, the symptoms do not persist for more than an additional 6 months.

I've never got an answer, when I asked the seller about this record breaking white Vanagon. The first time in 2014 and again in 2017, no feedback from the seller. And I was asking a shipping company for a quote, it was a really serious interest in this Whitestar.
I think I'm not the only one, who has never heard anything from the "seller".
It looks like a decent van with a reasonable price. What's wrong here, does someone know the "seller"?
