Yet another long term Syncro owner spelling it Synchro. I don't want to be the spelling police, but how would you pronounce the "h" in Synchro?
|
Silently. When speaking of transmissions "synchro" is short for "synchronizer" and the VW name minus the H presumably came from that. _________________ '87 Westy in Wolfram Grey Metallic |

The funny thing about people that mis spell the name of their car is that it is on a Plague at the rear of the car/van.
It also will not show up in a search if someone was looking for a SYNCRO. It’s too bad really as the ad is well written and it seems like a nice van.

Apple loves correcting syncro to synchro as in synchronize, synchronicity, etc.
There are wiki pages for these real-life words:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronicity
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronization
On the other hand, a Wikipedia search for “syncro” leads to three different obscure brand names: one for VW’s abandoned brand for 4WD (wisely replaced with 4Motion) and two for crazy human flying contraptions, i.e. “syncro” is meaningless to 99% of the people on the planet and will most likely be assumed to be a spelling error.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncro
Much like Dometic is often replaced with Domestic.
In the motorcycle world I’ve scored great deals on sought after and poorly branded “Aerostich” gear by searching for “Aerostitch”. The people who misspell this brand name must wonder why only three people bid on their gear and it goes for 60% of the typical selling price.
The moral of the story: if you’re hoping to reach folks who are looking for a silly brand name not used in real-world language (a coined name) make sure you spell it correctly.
Edit: regardless, the owner of the van in the ad doesn’t appear to know how to spell the model name. _________________ - Jim

Not saying I would pay that much but the mods and being vetted and maintained by transporter werks has value in itself I guess.
When I am all said and done (which will probably be never) I will be there or more. |

They've got time to paint the shift rod orange but can't do a decent job installing the Wheelskin on the steering wheel... _________________ '84 Vanagon GL 1.9 WBX

Oh man I'm so frustrated right now. I guy had a 10ft F45 TI awning for sale for $100 on CL. He said it all worked and that he pulled it from a house that had it on it. He didn't know much about it but it looked in decent shape.
I messaged him at 12 asking to hold it. I get off at work at 5 and would be down to meet at 7pm. He just texted me at 4 saying he just sold it.
I should have left work early. _________________ Brandon

A jump seat with starting bid of $499 and buy it now of $649.
Also thought that kids in a carseat are a no-go in the rear facing seats.(not positive on this)

Hmmm...some worrying signs with that one. Seam rust for starters. Why is there a block under the front wheels? What happen to all the curtains? Front carpet? No pics of the underside, or engine (as noted above) Seems to have had a respray, what's lurking under that paint?
Appears to have been a Canadian van and seen hard use. Wonder if it was from back east in the rust belt? _________________ Currently:

I pinged the seller alerting him to the gaff and he fixed the title but left it as synchro in the text. c'est la vie... _________________ - Jim

Has anyone ever seen an ad where any body damage was NOT done by the previous owner?

There is still a used tent for sale in Boulder with holes in it. He wouldn't even take the time to respond to a $40 offer. It is from a Syncro so be sure to add that to your offering price.
