this has to be performance art...

1984 VW Westfalia - $5000 (Cape May court house)

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

1984 Westfalia Full Camper. Project van. Extra parts included. Extra motor. Has Rancho Transmission, freeway flyer 4th gear. Needs resto. Interior good, needs a good cleaning. This van is worth about 20k fully restored. Don't have the time for resto. Serious inquires only. PM only if interested. No this van does not run right now.

Does this ad look legitimate to people?

84 vanagon with 2.1lt engine Price: $12000
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2203348

British Columbia plates, says it's in Colorado, phone is from Alaska.
IP it was posted from is California

If you think is a scam ad because the price is too low or you recognize it from somewhere else, please go "Report" the ad as a scam ad and let me know.

Thank you.

I'd say by the ad and photos it's legit. I'd say they're travellers and are leaving the country now. Maybe started in Canada based on the BC plates. The price isn't so low that it's suspicious.

Good sleuthing. Very Happy

It's also not an original Westfalia, which might be why the price is low.

Not really a whine, but is a 37K mile '82 Westy Diesel worth $25K ?? I have no clue on that milage/value for a Diesel. Maybe if it had a Mo powerful Diesel, Yah ??

i'm skeptical of the mileage and that price is a reach.

Maybe if it didn't have a long gouge in the side - and pix of the front and back!

I'm probably too old fashioned but to me a hundred photos of the van don't make up for the greasy fingerprints, filthy upholstery and numerous unrepaired deficiencies visible.

Make it $22,000

I don't know what I am then, cause I was thinking more in the 12-14,000 range, look at all those small dents all over the body.
And those wheels are nasty.

Enjoy everyone...

1982 *Volkswagen* *Vanagon* Campmobile - $10,900

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Vehicle Description For This *Volkswagen* *Vanagon*

DRASTICALLY REDUCED PRICE!!! This is an AS-TRADED 1982 Volkswagen Vanagon Campmobile with 154,831 miles that needs a motor. We believe the current motor has a bad cam. This VW Vanagon probably needs a new engine and we've had trouble locating one and don't have time to do the work anyway. We are selling this Vanagon AS-IS, the way it sits. This Vanagon runs and drives, it just has a very distinct engine noise. It is a Very Nice, Really Clean and Pretty Much Rust Free Southern Camper. Great Bones, great candidate for an Engine Rebuild!! We've heard these kids today are putting Subaru Engines in Vanagons!! The Pop Top is missing canvas, but that's easy enough to find. We have just simply run out of time for this Project Vanagon.

Even with the freshly rebuilt 2.5? Can we meet at $15,500? Shocked Laughing Cool

1987 Volkswagen Vanagon / Bus Weekender - $8000 (W. Babylon)

https://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/cto/d/1987-volkswagen-vanagon-bus/6676367023.html

Wolfsburg Edition Pop top Weekender 4 cyl, 4 speed manual. 175k miles

Great camper van, starts right up and runs well, Sleeps 4, Body is good, no dents - some rust spots -

Pop-top fabric is torn (Either replace or sew in windows)

$8000 Negotiable - Will take highest offer / bid

I went and looked at this Vanagon. Aside from all the electrical and mechanical issues, it was dirty inside. if you want top dollar for your Vanagon, maybe, and i'm just spit-balling here, break out the shop vac and spend an hour getting the sand, dirt, dead bugs, spider webs, and what not out. use cleaner on the windows, tighten down the loose screws, make it look like you care about it...

seriously, expend some effort and maybe it might be rewarded.
