#1.
The van has clearly been laid down on the passenger side in some accident in the past.
#2.
That's a long drive from California to Maine in 3rd gear.  
""The good:
Made it from California no problem
Started up first try after sitting the whole winter
Peppy driving
Lift kit
Nobby tires
Lots of new parts
Really cool and comfy custom build with solar - running water - gas stove - quality inverter -nice dc panel - mini fridge
The van starts and runs great!
Bad:
The back tire is apparently flat.
Manual transmission is missing 4th gear
There is a slight weep in the drivers side water jacket
There’s a small hole in the top of the gas tank
There is a slight leak in the thermostat housing.
I’m open to offers but be reasonable I don’t have to sell it. Van is in Rockland.""

Nice. I'd buy it just for the wainscoting and super safe propane system.

how many other cars can you lay on their side and then right and drive it 'mostly' just fine afterwards?
we have one here in the family fleet that was rolled over onto it's roof 18years ago..
it's not the same shape it once was, a little shorter from floor to roof
but the doors all close and it's still driving and actively camping to this day

Maybe it's pump and dump.... It was the $100+k vanagon listings that made other sellers say
.. Hey! Others are asking that much, I will too.... There is a reason talk estate subdivision developers want to control the sales in their projects to make it seem like therirs it worth more than the stuff in the surroundings nhood..... It's the buyers willing to pay those prices that solidifies it .... Like anyone buying a house now - just say no and prices will come down.

With the mad van prices across the pond, it makes almost sense to buy them in the EU and ship them over for sale.
