guys -

I picked up a spare slider door from a 69 - while working on the mechanism and stuff, getting it ready for a test fit, I thought I would just install my spare 1972 latch mechanism into this 1969 door - but there are differences... Here s pic of the 2, the one with the cable is 1972

note the extra cable support on the 72 - it interferes with the inner door steel

So, i dont have experience with any other sliders than my own, does it matter which I use? obviously, I assume they (VW) made this change for the better - but is it worth the mod? what improvements does the cable type have the rod type doesn't?

So, options are to use the 69 stuff, or cut this section out - (see black felt) pretty minor mod, and easy to hide.

I dunno - help!
