The bottom half of that bus does not look like pearl white to me. Perhaps it is ivory or some other repainted color. If it comes off easily with paint thinner then it may not be original paint. I haven't seen the bus in person though, so the above is just an opinion based on the picture.
I had a quart of ivory paint made, by mistake, awhile back and the lower half of that bus reminds me of that ivory paint.

Correct Stanagon, it "was" Pearl White. I dont know what color that lower color is but I hate it Very Happy . It does come off fairly easy, to expose the white under it. I have admired your 65 DD for quite some time.

Thought I might get to all that original paint under there but it had some collision repair in the same area when it was repainted. The front door is stripped down to the original pearl and the primer has bare metal under it.
This was outside during the maiden voyage runs.

My panel was Pearl White from the factory, but the paint under the re-paint isnt that great. I was thinking of another color( maybe Light grey) when it comes time for a re-spray, but after seeing Minks and Mr. Armstrongs two above photos I leaning towards the Pearl White again. I my mind I thought a panel would look like a gaint marshmellow in Pearl, maybe not. Smile

The Pearl does grow on you. The panel is really nice looking and it would serve it well if the Pearl can be nailed down as close as possible.
I have been thinking about grey on wheels and bumpers for myself. Maybe a red or orange pinstripe on the grey.

All standard color on the wheels and bumpers (L82 Silver White) and the hubcaps would be light grey.

Here is mine in PPG L87. At first I was not all that eager to go with the original color but glad I did.

I did the body work and sprayed all the inside. I had a buddy spray the outside since he has a booth and he is a real painter and I am not :^).
It is in the Westy Build thread in my signature.

Doing 'the body work' on this bus is an understatement. Amazing save for sure.
