Will 911 speedo, tach, and combo gauge (oil temp and pressure) fit into the 356 dash? What sizes are the 911 stuff.

What year 911 gauges?

'65-69 is 110mm
'70-85 is 115mm

Plus you'll need a resistor to compensate for fact that they read pulses for a 6 cylinder and not a 4 cyl.

I'll check out a 914 tach then. Anyone know the size of a 914 tach?

For the speedo, use one from a Porsche 914, they register 140 mph so there's some cool factor built right in. The early-style bezels are the nicest in that they look like those from the 356, but painted black. They were originally took the signal from the transaxle, but work perfectly hooked up to the VW driver's side wheel and accept the stock early-style threaded collar VW speedo cable. I used one from a '71 Ghia. Perfect ! !

For the tach, I used one from a Porsche 944:

I just replaced the conical plastic lens with a flat one and DONE ! ! It's a basic electric four cylinder VDO tack with the basic negative side of coil hook up. Easy Peasy.

Both gauges are white letters on black, the bezels match and they're both VDO for a nice clean look. Use the 2 1/6 VDO oil pressure, oil temp, volt gauges from the center console of a Rabbit, Fox, Saab, etc. and everything will match up beautifully and you can get them on Ebay or at a junk yard for nearly zip ! ! ! !

Luck—
