Brown plastic spray paint - which brand is the closest?

Glued my column cover back together with expected glue globs on the outside. will be sanding and want to paint similar brown.

Wondering which spray paint color/maker is a good match.

I went through this.

I purchsed about a dozen cans of brown spray paint.
I found no match but then again, the brown plastic interior is about five different browns!

I ended up mixing my own.

YEah, I'm not mixing... Jstu looking for something close. its the steering column which is separate from anything else so it can be a bit off.

Rustoleum Satin Dark Brown #241239 (lowes has it locally for me at least)

After reading djkeev's input on finding a color match, this is what I used to repaint my dash back to brown (PO painted it black). It's lighter and not a perfect match, but it was cheap and easy to buy off the shelf. I think you'll find it a little bit lighter than the brown plastic pieces though.

I hope this information helps......

Ok people, I've done the leg work for you........ These browns...... Almost every off the shelf brown available at local stores........ Not one of them is even close to the Vanagon brown dash colors!
Some of the plastic caps are quite close but the products don't match the caps.

In the store under the lights their 15023 Cordovan Brown is almost an exact match for the new dash fabric and plastic fuse cover I took into the store.
To be sure I went outside with their color card and my samples into the Sun and double checked the match.
IT was darn near dead on!

We will see in a few days........

Obviously I'm recovering my dash pad with new vinyl,
I want the matching paint so I can rehab the defroster vents, side window vents, window cranks, door opening lever, ashtray, etc. Freshen up all of that worn faded brown plastic found throughout the Van.

Not well, not a match.
I ended up blending my own color.

The Vanagon brown is however about five different shades of brown, look closely some day at your various dash component colors.

Very nice compilation Dave.

I hear what you mean about the 5 different shades of brown in the van..... And that's actually one of the reasons I'm not concerned of the color ends up being a bit off since the steering column is it's own thing.

My choices might be even more liked than the trials you shared since I'll stick just with plastic parts.

The current plan, unless someone adds more info before I get around to doing this, is to try the color mentioned above and see how it looks.

Idealy someone might have a suggestion of a darker color of plastic spray paint.

I've been happy with the Krylon Fusion Satin Espresso. It comes in gloss, too, if you like that sort of thing. Cool

Made specifically to bond well to plastic with minimal prep. Very Happy

That is what I use - possibly a bit darker than some of the brown bits but close enough for me.
