That's something I never knew before. Great little historic bit of information. |
Interesting, but no mention of the Type 4? It was introduced with a similar strut suspension years prior to the Super Beetle. _________________ '74 412 wagon

I love some of these odd German cars. I owned a 1955 DKW F91 cabriolet at one time that was way cool, but also rough. Maybe this family that bought this GP700 coupe would be interested in my 1956 Golaith Express 23 window sunroof bus? mostly aluminum outside, wood cargo floors, only 2 on the planet. Currently up for sale or trade for an early beetle. I still may keep it. Tim |

Please look on the samba classifieds and you will see my bus I have for sale or trade. It is not worth as much as a GP700 Goliath car, but just as rare. Try and find one with a sunroof. Tim |

it's easy to see why people are willing to sell thier super rare cars to the grundman's. you would know they will be given the love and care they deserve.

This Rometsch Goliath Coupé was unearthed by the Grundmanns but then sold as it was found to another German collector.
This North German collector who has a huge classic car collection had the Goliath restored at the same company who built the VW3 and VW30 beetle prototype replicas for Volkswagen Wolfsburg. BTW the same company that also restored the earliest surviving Karmann convertible, bodynr. 15-00107 from 1949, that is to be seen in Wolfsburg in the Stiftung Volkswagen Museum, Dieselstrasse. A private Goliath specialist advised that resto shop and did -as far as I know- the engine and maybe more of it´s technical parts.

The car was not sold as it was found and it was not the idea of the Grundmann's to sell it. But the new owner was very interested in the car and also a collector of vehicles of the Borgward Company where Goliath was involved. Christian connected the new Owner to Oliver Herbolzheimer and to Gunther, who restored the carThe VW 30 and VW 3 were createt by another company - but Olli also restored some other cars during the past 20 years like the VW38, the red/ivory Rometsch Lawerence Coupeéor the 1950 "Sinalco-Bus" which are in exposition of Volkswagen Museum / Autostadt. This Goliath topped all these cars in its finished. A restored car is as good a the help of the experts you can get, for the Rometsch the godfather of Goliath GP 700 was involved.

Hello Community, thanks to all of you, especially Björn, for the honorable words to our restoration of the Goliath 700. I am not a very good internet presentator but nevertheless you can find a few more pictures of the restoration process on my website : www.radsatzwerkstatt.de
Best Regards, Oliver Herbolzheimer |
