Is it possible to run dual carbs on a Barndoor bus without relocating the Gas tank?
Maybe on really short manifolds?
Ghia Okrasa style elbows maybe?
Thanks in advance,

I don't know but I wonder if Type 3 intakes will work, if you could figure out some linkage that would work with the upright fan shroud.
I have some kicking around if you need a height or if you want me to set one in there next to my 36hp intake for a pic.
I know an Okrasa set up won't fit, I did the measurements last year when I had a chance to buy one. _________________ How to Post Photos

The air filter is the item thats always going to clash, so if you went short manifolds and tubes of the top of the carbs to filters somewhere else you may get away with it. _________________ (06:31:07) RoachGhia: "i drink dick way too fast" |

Stumbled on this thread, I know the Okrasa ones are really tall. I have a Rethwish kit that I believe was installed in a BD. I know there is a guy selling repopped Rethwish kit, might be an option if you are running a 36hp. |

i'll be putting a dualcarbed 36er in my 52 kombi,i believe i will need to make my own aircleaner on the gas tank side,it seems like it just needs to be angled to fit _________________ Have a great day! |

is it possible to run 'spacesaver' manifolds ( 3267 below)on later engines
http://www.cbperformance.com/catalog.asp?ProductID=532
& pull the carbs/filters over enough?
I 'm struggling to fit my new found spare wheel tray with a dual carb engine.. _________________ ....just cause you don't see it, doesn't mean it isn't there!.... |

This is exactly the dilemma I'm having. I finally got a spare tire shelf, and would like to carry a spare long with me, especially for the trip to the Classic in June. It seems like the only way I've seen dual carbs in a barndoor is with the tray removed and the gas tank shifted over.
Those manifold are intended for use in a Bug engine bay, as the right side has more offset, to clear the decklid. They don't look a lot shorter to me.
I'll just have to wait until I have the bus back, and try a few options. _________________ C-1 |

it really isnt that big of a deal in my opinion.
moving the tank over with brackets.my tank is angled just a bit to the center of the bus on the rear(neck end)of the tank so it leaves room for the air filter but allows a little better room for gas nozzle access.
the tray stays in its original position but you need to trim a section out of the edge as the neck will be half way outside its original position of the tire tray.i know you know how to weld,so that shouldnt be an issue if you change your set up
i have my cutout piece set asside for future repair.
also keep in mind your tire choice if you do intend to utilize the tray for a spare. it is meant for skinny tires. i have a 185/55/15 and it is a struggle to squeeze in there but it will go. anything wider will result in you unbolting the tray just to get the tire in or out.

you can move the tank over and then move/re-weld the filler neck like I did also.

I moved my tank over then cut the tyre tray fitted it and took templates of the edge where the filler neck is and made the tray bigger so i can still run the seal around the tank neck.

You might as well try a Speedwell Empi Sprint conversion. They have cross flow Zenith Carbs, so no filter on top. I didn't try to check the fit on the panel since my setup is going in my oval, but if you like i can check the measurements on my workbench dummy motor.
