I like this rim style and the wider ride of the tire for a more stable feel. What year and part # / size are these? _________________ 1961 Westfalia SO23 Mango Green/Seagull grey

Thanks whynotvw! Looks great. I've got a new powdercoating kit, so have to try it out with a charcoal or something. |
no problem,
i went to pep boys and bought 4 spray cans for wheels $20. i didn't have to take off the tires to spray the wheels. took them off the van masked the tire and sprayed. i was done in one hour.
one thing good about spray paint, if the wheels get scratched then no prob. i just re-touch them up with spray paint.
down the line i would like to get them powdercoated. but really spray paint does not look cheesey as i thought |

Heh heh. I've run about 10 sets of rattle canned wheels over the years. I handle enough nicer Porsche wheels now that I can make more money selling them if I powdercoat them to justify the small investment in the p-coat kit.
I'll be sure to post up the results. _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

I got another set of CLK rims in the mail from ebay today and 2 of them are curbed badly. Be careful when buying rims off of ebay, this isn't the first set of rims that I have had to send back for a refund. |

Since you only need one for a spare - don't be against suggesting a 1/2 refund or something like that and keeping the wheels. I'd do it if I sold them.
And - if you do work out a deal like that, I'd be interested in that other 'extra' one for a spare! _________________ 1972 Porsche 911E

I just posted an ad for a set of 4 today here on The Samba.
The set I'm keeping I just had powdercoated black.

Merry Christmas guys,
I am in the market for a set of CLK wheels and I would like to ask some Qs...
1)Are these available also in replica ? If so how I can identify the genuine ones ?
2)They are only available in 7x16 et 37 ? I found a set 7.5x16 et 35 (havent's seen them in person yet).
TIA,

To the best of my knowledge, there are no replicas of these wheels.

The "CLK" wheel that we all keep referring to is only available in a 16x7 forged alloy. The European market had a wheel that looks similar to the "CLK" wheel, but it is 16x7.5 ET46. I do not know what the exact application was for this wheel, but it was probably the S Class W220 cars since it has 14mm lug holes and large ball profile lug seats. I have two customers, one from New Zealand and one from Pakistan, with these wheels and they really threw me off...until we figured out what they were and that we were not talking about the same wheels (CLK versus this other one) While I can't confirm this, I think that they are cast, not forged. Here is a picture of the 16x7.5 ET46 wheel.

Here in the US, all of the CLK wheels are forged. Not sure about other countries. _________________ 1985 Westy, 1.9L automatic (Daisy)

You all may not like to here this but those wheels just don't look that great. To me, they look cheap. What are the benefits to these wheels? |

1. Forged, not cast
2. Light
3. Strong
4. Direct fit with different lugnuts and a spacer in front (some consider
spacer optional) |
