Eurovan aside the before and after pictures really tell a great story - the finished product looks awesome. _________________ 1991 Westfalia EJ251, 1972 Volvo 1800 ES |

Freshly painted CLK compared to US made Rhein.
Rhien wheel with Nokian WRC3 195/70r15 at 45lbs each
CLK wheel with BF KO2 215/65r16 at 47lbs each
Anyone know if the original SA made Rheins were lighter?

Thanks!
I stripped and painted the rims myself. More info in the "Painting CLK wheels" thread. _________________ Currently:

Finally fitted my new-to-me-8-months-ago 16” Fuchs forged alloy “Toliman” rims (originally fitted to certain years of Mercedes CLK320, but they were fitted to other Merc’s as well) to my ‘86 Syncro Westy “Fritz”. Boy are they light! T3Technique supplied the proper lug nuts as well as some as-yet-to-be-fitted center caps (awaiting “Puch” emblems from Europe). Chrome would not be my preference but that’s how they came and the finish is too nice to spend money on changing. They don’t require spacers but the holes must be enlarged very slightly (T3Technique also sold me the correct drill bit). I like the quasi-period look. |

Very nice - gotta ask - how are you carrying the spare for the synchro? I'm looking to upgrade to 16" but - as everyone knows - can't find the Go Westy bumpers or swing arm anywhere. |

Does anyone know the weight of the 01-03 7-spoke CLK wheel? |

I used to have an oversized spare carrier. It will fit with the tire deflated. I carry an air compressor so it worked. I have a gary lee rack on my hatch now and his tire carrier. Way better there.

Weight I think is 17 pounds. They're light!
Spare you can just use a stock wheel and treat it like a temp spare. If you have an automatic and have a rear flat, swap the front to rear use the spare on the front . _________________ 1991 Vanagon GL 2.1 AT Westfauxlia. Math is hard for me, but given that the Nokian weighs 25 lbs and the K02 weighs 35 lbs it looks like the 15" Rhein weighs 8 lbs more than the 16" CLK: 20 lbs for the Rhein and 12 lbs for the CLK (12 lbs?!?). Corrections welcomed.

I weighed those wheels on a basic bathroom scale; total weight could be off. The main reason I posted the comparison was just to point out the weight savings of the CLK; that I was able to get such a large, and more aggressive tire without a huge weight penalty.

Sorry, the weight of the later generation 7-spoke wheels that aren't forged is what I'm looking for. The 10+ pounds of weight saving per wheel (well, not including tire differences) the forged wheels offer is huge. Unfortunately, I doubt the later ones are anywhere close, but I'm curious if anyone knows. |

I'm tired of looking for used CLK alloy rims in Canada. Shipping and the exchange rate is horrendous.
Is Alloy Wheels Direct a good place? I know I'll have to drill out the lug holes and use spacers for the ET37 off set.
Thoughts?

It would be $835 USD for 4. About $210 USD each.
Shipping to Canada $340 CAD. Or $380 USD. I switched back and forth using their calculator for price and shipping. Now, it's more expensive to ship to the USA. Because Canada is closer to Germany? _________________ 1987 Westfalia, Automatic Transaxle,2.1L
