well... picked this up this week. a Sun TUT-915R Ignition analyzer plus the gas analyzer. gas analyzer is a future restoration project but i worked on the TUT-915R and have it working.

as bought, the graticule screen glass was bonded to the CRT with a 3/16" layer of what appeared to be silicone. this had gone potty with bacterial/mold growth.

sawing off the bonded silicone with Dacron fishing line, i was able to clean it off with a plastic razor blade.

the end result was great. while i wanted a 'wetted' layer between the CRT and the graticule glass, just bonding it on with silicone around the perimeter worked well enough and the display is clear enough without the wetting.

always wanted an automotive scope since i first saw them as a kid. old school, it won't do anything that doesn't have a separate coil and plug wires but i have plenty of those things around!

Here are a few of my favs, some of which may have been posted before:

Helping hands extreme (I've been doing a lot of soldering recently)
https://www.amazon.com/QuadHands-WorkBench-Mount-Magnetic-Panavise/dp/B072KKWCP1?ref_=ast_slp_dp

Magnetic wrist band (trick is to wear it on your dominant hand holding the ratchet/drill/etc. so you can grab screws/bolts with non-dominant hand)

A big sheet of some really slick Hardboard is BETTER than a creeper! Used in my back yard during my Bostig conversion. Planned on creeping on it then realized in a t-shirt you can slide around on your back like oil on glass. It's lower down, which is helpful but it's a long way down there, ha. I'm gettin old. Do anyone else's elbows hurt after being under there? Crying or Very sad

I recently got a Gripty silicone tool tray.

Thus far, I really like it.

This has been on my amazon list for years but I never can convince myself to order it. Then I'm soldering something, holding it place with assorted jerry-rigging and wish I had it.

This seems like a perfect item to hint at for an upcoming birthday.

German vehicles like German ratchets - and it folds up for easy carrying. Even better your Vanagon will be lighter since our wallet weighs so much less....

Lighter van weight due to lighter wallets creates better gas mileage and saves the earth. Its a win all the way around!!!

3/8"18V Torque Ratchet Wrench

It's 18v and if the batteries crap out I'll adapt it to my Makita 18V batteries.
With my luck, Makita will make one just about the time I get mine adapted to Makita batteries.

I liked having this, used it a lot.
Always reached for it, got hooked on it.👍🏽👍🏽
But it has crapped out.

First it lost some ratchet teeth.
Then the battery clips broke, so I had to tape the battery in.
Then it just quit altogether.
Quality is a loser.

Usefulness is a winner.
I want another one, but Makita doesn't make an 18v version.

Why must you have 18v ?

Milwaukee makes a 12v version. I've never had problems with Milwaukee tools.

i bought the milwaukee m12 fuel 3/8'' ratchet, was my first venture into milwaukee tools, soon after i bought their stubby 3/8'' impact.
since i got this one, milwaukee m12 stubby impact i don't often use the ratchet now.
this one, IMHO is a must, milwaukee m18 impact
anyone venturing into impacts, buy the biggest amp age battery you can afford,
the 12amp m18 battery ups the bhp of the impact by a noticeable amount.

Wow!

Spendy tool Mark!

I have a DeWalt 18v 1/4" hex impact.
It delivers more than I'll ever want.

My 120 v DeWalt impact matches or exceeds my 1/2" air powered NAPA impact for the larger tasks.

ssshhhhhhhhhhh, just don't tell the wife, she gets mad, when i spend $ on a tool, that makes my day go quicker, and ultimately earns me less $
i've had the ''you IDIOT !!!!!!!!!!!!'' talk a couple of times, when she's seen the new shiny stuff, in my tool box, new stuff typically gets wiped down with grease and dust, pretty quickly Wink
when this stuff earns your living, buying crap is not an option.
